Customer Questions & Answers

I have a single pane window, so do i install on the outside or do we install on the Inside of the window pane

Asked by: justin
This is made for the inside. I installed this on a single pane arch window almost 2 years ago and still looks new. However, this tint gets HOT in direct sunlight, so it is for privacy/glare control ONLY. If you need a heat control solution, go with solar screening on the outside of the window. You can DIY with supplies from here. I have made several for my own house and it makes a big difference. It's not too hard and you can even use mounting tape to avoid drilling into the window frame. Good luck!

Does the film have an odor ?

I have curtians that are supposed to reflect heat and they seem to do the trick somewhat, but they stink when the sun beats on them. Does the window film smell when it gets hot?
Asked by: keeter11
There is no odor where we applied it, but the window is inside and not directly in the sun.

i am trying to find the correct film to put on my windows to keep the sun out

I think it is supposed to be used on the inside. I used it on the inside and it works fine.

Does this let you see out but know one can see in.

Looking to cover our garage door panels. We need to see out but don't want anyone to see in. Will this take care of that?
Asked by: buddyboy
Exactly. I will be plain and simple. NO one can see in and you can see out. As long as the light OUTSIDE is greater than inside, complete privacy. In other words, hang on to the shades for night, but don't worry about the day, unless it is so dark that it appears to be night. I have a bird feeder FEET away from the window, a picture window, and i can move around and sit all day and my cats as well, and the birds don't see us. It is wonderful for that. About three times the birds have flown into the window, small bump, no one hurt, and then got smart about the greens they see. The film reflects wht is outside. In my case, the neighbors bushes. Also. the house is so much cooler. it is like, with the black, looking through sunglasses. Light comes in, but no heat. Great.

36 in. x 1200 in. Black Privacy Window Film is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 137.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use tint film I bought this tint film, along with the installation kit (spray bottle, squeegee, razor and cloth) and installed it on my garage door windows. This tint film was incredibly easy to use, but make sure you precut the film to the proper size before sticking to the window. I got this film to replace another tint film I used previously that left a bunch of bubbles on the window. After following the simple instructions, the tint went up easily, was able to slide around to fit just right, and after squeegee'ing it into place, the tint looked great and didn't have any bubbles.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average Really hard to get bubbles out film. Film is so think but very durable. Maybe I need a video or something to show how to place the film on without leaving so many bubbles especially after it dries...

I only bought GILA b/c it was the only brand available in the 6 ft lengths at both Home Depot and Lowes. In doing this review, I’ve just discovered that ARTSCAPE can be ordered in the longer lengths online. Wish I’d known that!!¬¬ 20 times harder to apply than ARTSCAPE, plus it’s thinner plastic and you can’t reuse it. I have reused my ARTSCAPE many times on multiple projects. You have to damage 2 inches of the length, just to get the plastic backing off of it. Took 15 minutes to do that alone, and I came very close to trashing the entire package! Just imagine applying CONTACT paper to glass, and you’ll get the picture of how tough it is to apply and OMG – get the bubbles out. Impossible to do that. No problem with ARTSCAPE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what we needed for privacy Installation was quick and easy, and it has done exactly what my wife and I had hope for. It provides a view outside while allowing privacy to us with the door open. Because of the color of our door while looking at it from the street, it is difficult to see or know if the door is open or closed. It does however, make the outside view a bit darker, although that seems to be a plus because we can feel a noticeable difference as it filters the sunshine UV rays.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total waste of money! Unfortunately they stayed up for a week and fell down. They were impossible to put back up because they stuck together. A total waste of money!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected This product does block view from the outside in the Day time but the view looking out is terrible! Foggy, and unclear. . . The view is such an eye sore that I threw the product away... We were not able to enjoy a crisp clear scenery. It just felt like a cold rainy and blurry day..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is supposed to do Installed in my garage as I was putting up insulation and didn't want it to be seen from the outside (HOA rules). I used the baby shampoo and water solution instead of buying the application kit. Just make sure you have a sharp blade to trim the excess. The film was a little tricky to keep spraying while removing it from the backing but is easily correctable if it starts sticking together.
