With the tint on the inside I heard there is concern that the heat redirected back into the glass may crack it. Anyone use it on impact glass or have other options?

We are in a gated community, really restrictive rules. Windows planned for this film are on the second floor. Privacy is not an issue. Heat reduction is. How glaring is the mirror look from a distance?

Answer:
I did 3 windows about 1 month ago.
I just went outside for you and looked-the effect is noticeable if you look for it, otherwise why would one notice?
If you have a busy-body association, perhaps a do-gooder would notice.
Give me your address and I'll mail you a left over piece.
worst-case scenario, you apply it and then have to take it off.

We have double pane windows. Some people say this type of film could cause cracks and/or separation of the glass from frame. What might be people's experience in this?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! We live on the lake and the sun is scorching. You could feel the heat through the windows and the glare was terrible. We have tons of windows on that side of the house. After putting this up on the lake side windows, there was an immediate difference. I love the fact it has a "mirror" finish so everyone on a boat going by can not see inside the house like before. I enjoy being able to see outside without all the glare. Before I would have to wear a sunhat inside the house! I used a 3 foot drywall square to cut the film on a sewing mat and it made it fairly easy. The best advise I have is take your time and use LOTS of the solution! I had to work on the windows early in the morning before the sun was shining in, otherwise the film sticks because the solution dries too fast on the window. I also only pulled the clear back side of film apart 1/2 way down, then got it into position and then reached behind and pulled the rest of the way. Otherwise you end up with the film sticking to itself when it moves and folds onto itself. It is like aluminum saran wrap. I did windows that were 36 x 72 (8) of them and also hugh angled windows 5 ft x 3 ft x 5 ft. I even seamed them! I found after awhile that the smoother that came in the kit got some rough spots on the edges and scratched the film a little bit, so I got out a credit card and finished up with that, which worked great! So now I am ordering another 1200 ft roll and going to do the other side of the house. Best of luck if you try this. August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but not great Seems to be working a little. I was expecting more of a heat block. August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Titanium vs Platinum Gila Window Film Installation These products are significantly different in quality. Having used Titanium and Platinum in the past week, the Titanium is notably thicker and therefore installs much easier. The Platinum had a flimsiness that caused it to spring easily while removing the film and adhere to itself despite soaking it. There was even a foil sound to it. When smoothing out bubbles, several times the product actually creased onto itself (small, inch long creases) no matter how careful I was. Worse, there are a few spots where some of the finish scratched off when smoothing. The Titanium is thicker and more like a poly coating than foil. The weight helps it not to spring easily when removing the film thus not adhering to itself (a definite plus when working alone). When smoothing out bubbles, I had no occasion where the film creased rather than ride out bubbles nor did it scratch. Although the Titanium is more money, it's a FAR SUPERIOR product to work with. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needed replacement after a few years. Pretty easy to apply, and did a great job of cutting down the solar gain in my kitchen, which faces West and gets a LOT of sun directly onto it here in Alabama. However, some of the window film started to turn very cloudy after about 3 summers, so I have had to buy more to replace those. I expect the difference between the old ones and the new ones will be so obvious that I'll need to redo them all. March 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it. This is the 2nd time we've used this product on every window in our house. It's wonderful and pays for its self in energy savings. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Saves energy, saves my sanity; I have to hide from UV radiation. We love Gila UV film, and have been buying it at Home Depot for over 10 years; I have an extreme allergy to UV radiation, and Gila film allows me to see the outside, even though I can't go outside. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great!!!!! I installed it in the garage window, to practice. Must watch video before install, it gives good advice. I did the whole house, including french doors to deck. I love having the blinds open during the day, with No glare on the TV. plus no one can see in from outside. AC runs a little less, but the house seems cooler, during the hottest part of the day. Glad i did it. July 31, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product overall Overall I am very satisfied so far like the other reviews recommended it is much better with two people and the clothes peg works to stop the curling. Ideally if you have 3' by 6' table top to cut on it would also make sizing go easier. I also used baby shampoo instead of the solution sold and it worked well. The affect was immediate heat was gone as soon as it was applied ...should have done sooner July 3, 2013
