You can see through it if you are close to the window. Unless you have a light on outside then you can see through it from any distance.

Answer:
This question is tricky because it depends on the lighting conditions outside the window. If it is dark out and the lights are on inside you will not be able to see out the window because of reflection (you will see your reflection in the window). Yet, if it is lighter outside the window then inside the room (exterior lights) then you will see the outside view.

Answer:
If someone walks up to your window during the day, most of what they see is a mirror effect of what is facing the window, trees, clouds. At night it is the reverse for those inside, the outside person can see in, but the inside person cannot see out or who is at the door.

Answer:
Yes and No. No, the window film becomes reflective on the inside at night. Yes, because If you turn off your inside lights, the window film is clear. Basically, whichever side of the film has more light that side will be reflective.

Answer:
Exterior, and it is recommended that you use the peel and cling types of film for skylights because the non-glass materials that skylights are made out of expands at a different rate when exposed to heat. The peel & cling will allow for this difference in expansion rate and stay on the pane.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sunglasses for your window! After mid-day the front of our house gets very sunny, we have many windows that heat up our kitchen and living room... and the brightness gets irritating. Our first thought was to install window awnings, we decided to try this film with new venetian blinds. We bought the 48” x 120” box [~$50], was enough to cover all our windows, and we also got the application kit with spray solution, squeegee, and razor [~$9]. After following the instructions on paper and video demos, we are amazed at how much it has improved the issues we had! The brightness and heat issues are gone… even when the sun is at highest point! Speechless! Plus an added bonus, the film increased privacy… from outside during daytime, windows look like a black mirrors! We are more than pleased and amazed! We don’t have to install awnings! Some tips to make installation better: have a large clean surface ready to lay out the film… it will be tough without this. SLOWLY open and move the film around, it can crease it bends too much. You can’t wet the window and film enough… more was better for us! With that have many towels ready to soak up solution. Don’t curt the film more than 2 inches bigger than window pane… it will be tough to manage when on the window. After installed, monitor the film to check for any bubbles… it you see any, spray solution on film and soothe out with squeegee. The squeegee the kit came with was perfect, no need for larger squeegee. There will be a slight haze on film, but it does go away… our started clearing up a day later, and not it’s pretty much gone. Good luck, take your time, and you will be amazed! July 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just be patient and you will be fine. We live in SW Florida, it get sunny, hot and humid here. We just replaced our Air Conditioner, and since we are on the "Let's Cool Off" kick, we decided to you the Titanium Heat Control Window Film for our East, South windows. Our West windows are shaded by a large porch. Before purchasing we were concerned with the "Mirror Look" on the outside and considered the 3 in 1, but since the Titanium HC reduces sun heat up to 73% vs the 3 in 1 which is rated at 53%, we wanted the more efficient version. It is SO important to make sure your windows are clean clean clean, including removing caulk/glue from the edges of the window. If you don't remove it, you will have problems. Your windows should be cleaner than new. My wife worked with me since most reviews recommend a two man operation. Our window sections were 28" X 33", so yes, it made it much easier. Use loads of spray application, tons of it! That is the trick. Make a WET mess of your windows! It Makes it much easier. Measure, then measure, then measure, then measure before cutting. We moved our eating table into our bedroom to work off. Be close to your work!! After each window, we would clean the table again (We have 3 Golden Retrievers and 2 cats with long hair, so it is alway floating in the air." We purchased the application kit for this job, now when you run out of liquid from the bottle, you can make your own application spray. The instructions are in a video on the Gila website. All you need is baby shampoo (without conditioner) and water. Don't be a hurry during the application process. If you get frustrated, let your spouse work on it for a while. Our first window section took about 1 hour, after that about 40 minutes. You will get real comfortable with it. Now be very careful with the film, you can create a crease that will not look good, it is kind of like working with very think tin foil. If you watch the videos, you will be fine. For the first couple window sections, we had our iPad with us and play the video, then pause after each section. You will also have very small water bubbles throughout the window, as long as they are small about 1/8" in diameter, they will dry up in a day or two. Don't get frustrated with trying to remove them all. Now that we have them installed we actually like the look from outside the house. Now at night, if it is darker outside than inside, anyone will be able to see in your home. Now we live in a rural area, and one of our concerns is the mirror look attracting birds. Thirty minutes after our second window we had a bird fly into the window. He was OK, shook it off, then flew away. There are options for deterring birds from flying into your windows. Just use a search engine, or Youtube video. On our first day, we noticed a big difference in the temperature in our bedroom. It did not heat up so quickly and the A/C has no problem keeping up with the heat. June 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It Really Does Work! An HD associate recommended using Gila Titanium Heat Control Window Film on my windows. Last winter, I lost some trees due to an ice storm. The result was more sun on the west facing side of my house. The hot southern sun penetrating through the windows and doors was rapidly heating up my living room. Thermostat was set at 76 and room temp was 86 by late afternoon. A digital thermometer on the floor where the sun was shining reached 100 degrees. My short term remedy was blinds and blankets over the windows and doors. After talking with an HD associate, I went with Gila Titanium Heat Control Window Film. He recommended watching the install videos several times and make sure to have all the tools necessary before starting. Make a plan and walk through everything in a dry run. Practice makes perfect. Installation was easy with two people since my windows were 3'x3' The results are beyond what I could have hoped for. The Gila Titanium Heat Control Window Film has reduced the room temp by 10 degrees and I no longer need blinds or blankets over the windows/doors. The sunlight that hits the floor is no longer 100 degrees. The other day with it being 102 outside, the floor (where the sun shined) was reading 78 and inside air temp was 76.8 degrees. I read some other reviews that said the film does not work and they followed directions. I don't believe it. I suspect they installed the clear liner instead of the actual window film. The only drawback is that depending on the suns angle and orientation to your windows, it may appear to have a blue hazy appearance. I've gotten used to it and It's well worth it for the comfort and reduced cooling costs in the summer. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than advertised We purchased this product as a last resort before completely replacing our windows with a much more expensive shaded window. It WORKS!!! Before installation our windows could not be touched because of how hot they were getting. The drapes were very hot to the touch. The difference is truly amazing. Our drapes are actually cool to the touch and the windows are ever so slightly warm. If we had not done this ourselves I would not have believed it was possible. I sound like a commercial. I am a regular person. It took a little experimenting to get it on right but once we did we were off to the races installing the film. Lots of solution on the wondows. And don't forget to peel off the extra coating to bring out the sticky side that goes onto the window. Didn't realize that until the second window. We had to go back and redo the first window but that was easy to fix. It is a two person job. We are sitting in the previous hot office smilling ear to ear. Great stuff at a great price. Good luck with yours. June 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Made a huge difference!! The reviews seemed to be hit or miss and I was questioning how good they would look installed. Didn't want the "orange peel effect" or bubbles. It made a huge difference with regards to heat and the install couldn't have gone smoother with the separate install kit. I'll be installing this on more windows in my house over the next few months. Highly recommend! August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Making a big difference for me. I'm always looking for ways to lower utility bills. This stuff seems to be a big help. In my last house it made a huge difference in the summer. Just to give some numbers for what difference it makes for me. With an infrared thermometer, I checked the floor temp. It was 79deg. where there was no sun shining on it, 113 deg. where the sun was coming through an untreated window and 86 deg. where the sun was shining through the film. A 7 degree heat rise with film vs. 34 deg without. That certainly justifies the cost and time for me. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by **** Gila Window Tint Product came quickly. No damage to package. Video was easy to follow and product works well! September 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by sliding glass dors If you are going to do more than a 24 inch high window get a helper or save up you money and hire some one. No matter how hard I worked I could never get all the air bubbles out and I kept it moist (both sides). Ended up throwing most of it away it looked terrible. Save your money August 27, 2016
