This durable, adhesive-backed film is an ideal choice when you’re planning a more lasting change to your home.

  • While still allowing natural light to pass through, expect full privacy from glass with this film
  • Blocks views at any time of day, whether viewing from indoors or out while allowing natural light to pass through
  • Adhesive application; instructions included
  • Can be cut to fit any window; typically applied to the interior window surface
  • For best results use the Gila complete window film application kit

The privacy factor sounds terrific, but can I see out at all?

We just applied some of the black film to the sliding door and we can still see the outside quite well, but it seems the frosted film may just appear frost white looking out as well. Is that true?

You can see shapes and motions when backlit, like during the day, or if the area is lit at night, like a porch might be.

Answer:
Frost white doesn't allow a view of the outside as the film is frosted. Tinted films allow you to see out from the darker area to the lighter area. So if your needing to see out the window at all frosted is not the way to go.

I am interested in using this to cover an oval window on my front door. I would like to find something that completely blocks people from seeing inside my house. Is this product ideal for what I need?

The film prevents viewing anything clearly through the window after application. I would liken it to seeing only general light levels behind a sheet of wax paper.

Answer:
You have to use a solution to apply it-which is basically baby shampoo and water. Go to their website (Gila) and they tell you the exact combo of baby shampoo to water to use.

Answer:
You need to spray window cleaner or the product by Gila to help move the film around on the window. Then you need s smoothing tool to get out the bubbles, if needed lift the film off and respray if it does not move easily. You can just lift certain areas and spray rather than removing the entire sheet. You also need a small utility knife to trim if needed.

Answer:
All Gila films except the ones that say "Peel & Cling" use adhesive. The peel and cling use static to stay on the glass pane. They have decorative films that are peel &cling as well as the standard adhesive types. This film uses an adhesive.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 160 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked and looks great I just bought this product and the application kit for some entrance doors at work. It was definitely worth having a second person help me with this. One tip I would suggest for success it to not only spray the whole window before hand but also spray the back off the frosting once you have pulled the backing off! May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No more peeping toms into the bathroom! My wife asked me to put up something on the bathroom windows to prevent someone from looking into the bathroom when she gets out of the shower. Previously, we had paper blinds which served this purpose, but also were very annoying to collapse down to allow the bathroom windows to be opened for fresh air. Also the paper blinds would occasionally get torn or discolored from the sunlight and moisture in the air. Installing this frosted film on the windows was a fairly straightforward process involving thoroughly cleanining the windows before application, cutting the film to slightly larger than the window size, spray on the applicator solution, peel film backer away and apply film to window. Then trim film to window using the cutting tool in the kit (sold separately) and squeegee film to ensure no bubbles and consistent contact with window. The film can be removed and reapplied within 24 hours if needed, but I did not have to do this on either of my bathroom windows. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks good, not that hard to install Definitely mandatory: Buy the Complete Window Film Application Kit. This wasn't too terribly hard to install, and I had two kittens jumping all over everything trying to help, so pretty much anybody can do it. Took me 2 hrs for 4 window panes. Be VERY careful when you remove the backing from the film. The film itself is VERY sticky, and I ruined a panel when it got stuck to itself - That was a PAIN. The video is very helpful, and I was able to splice together two pieces to cover the 4th window pane. Patch job is ok, can't really tell it's a patch unless you look up close. This film lets light through but offers COMPLETE privacy. Overall pretty happy with this and would recommend. February 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible The adhesive is too sticky and makes placement of film virtualy impossible to have a smooth surface. I used another product that was a bit thicker and less sticky with perfect results. March 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice but with one problem The results are very nice, but the product states that the "EZMount adhesive allows you to peel the film away from the glass, fix the problem, and re-apply for up to 24 hours." No way! Within minutes, if you peel away to adjust it (after squeegeeing) it does come off but leaves thick layer of adhesive that does not come off. I am going to have to make another trip to Home Depot for the special remover, which I hope they have. The easy solution is to make sure the film is placed exactly where you want it before squeegeeing. The photo shows the daytime view with just the left window done so far. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for Privacy The window film was easy to install on our bathroom window. It provides the light and priivacy we need. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Like any product you have to read the instructions. I did this with my husband. We bought one box of film along with gila solution only, not the kit since we already had a squeege... If you don't have one I would highly recommend it. It saves you time and the process runs much smoother. Windows have to be clean otherwise you will regret it when your putting on the film. Loved the product and the outcome. May 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worse Window Film used in 30 years Clear film kept tearing into pieces instead of peeling. Crease lines from presses won't smooth out. Due to location I will let it stay if it doesn't fall off the window until the stuff ordering online from a company I've purchased from before arrives. This is absolutely horrible. Do NOT buy. Home Depot get this stuff off your shelves. Doesn't even look frosted. May 13, 2016
