If you're going to need to continue to depend on support bars get some permanent ones that bolt to the place you're going to need them. I hope this helps. Stay safe. hamrdul Read Less

Answer:
I believe it should work well as long as it is on a completely flat surface. Also there may be a weight limit to pressure. I would definitely read the box or call. I hope all goes well in your recovery.

From looking at the description, it looks like it would be fine to use for what you are looking for, but the manufacturer may be better to answer this question or advise what the weight limit is to be used with this item.
You can give them a call at 877-557-4568 with the product model number & they can advise for sure on this.
Thank you very much & get well soon!

I believe if it is a completely flat surface it should work. be sure to clean the surface completely, add a little water to the suction cup and push completely into the wall and give it a few sec before pulling on it. I would check all info on box before buying to be sure.

I'm sorry that I can't give you exact specs on this device but when properly affixed to a smooth surface in the shower the two of these that we installed were enough to hold what we down here in the south refer to as a "big ole boy". I'm talking above 250 pounds. Our friend has a nerve disorder which makes him a bit unstable and has to have these supports to be safe in the shower. The key here is to make sure that the suction cups are put on a surface which won't allow air to leak in to them. This would be a glass or finished ceramic surface without cracks. It has to be smooth. To insure the suction on ours we applied a very thin coat of petroleum jelly to both the suction cup and the wall and tested the devices by hanging on them. Remember, this has to be an extremely thin coat of jelly or they'll slip when the heat warms them up. Also, it pays to flip the suction breaking levers every time before the bars are depended on for support. The bottom line here is: if you're really going to have a support bar you can totally depend on it needs to be a permanent installation with bolts that hold the bar. These will do the job on a temporary basis and have worked well for us. Hope this helps. Sincerely, hamrdul Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Glacier bay safety bars I purchased 3 of these safety bars and installed 2 of them in the bathtub area on 40 yr old tiles that look like new.I was concerned about how much weight or pulling force that they would take,So after installing them I am happy to report that the product held my 250lb pulling force. The 3rd 12" grab bar didn't hold up so well,I installed it to a painted plaster wall and followed the instructions as to clean the suction cups and surface. Not only could I pull the grab bar off with one hand it will fall off the wall within a few minutes without even touching it. I am pleased with the 2 larger bars but will be returning the 12" bar Thanx Den June 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Keeps falling My husband & I purchased two of these as we are both seniors & he has a disabilty. One stayed up and the other kept falling, even after using extra glue. Therefore, we purchased a third one to replace the one that kept falling. After applying pressure the indicator turns green as it should. However, after 15 mins., the indicator turns red & the bar falls off the wall. Thanks for the suggestion of using Super Glue. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to install, very satisfied perfect for handy capped person in shower, easy to install April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT Recently had knee surgery so needed a little extra security getting in and out of my shower. Very skeptical on "suction cup" attachments....took a chance on this one and I am totally pleased.....it works as though it was part of the original shower....it has these green or red indicators regarding the suction and it really works ! I am about to buy two more for my Summer Home and the extra bath. It is rare I find a product that performs as advertised.....this one works ,,,,just follow instructions for intial mounting. I think the surface cleaning is critical ? February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great Bought this for temporary use while my wife's broken ankle heals. Attaches easily, holds as well as a permanently attached bar, and releases easily. The perfect solution for a temporary need. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by suction assist bar Very easily applied. Enough strength to assist a 190 lbs person. You just need to ensure you apply properly. January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by has to have a completely flat surface, but works great. the first time I put it on the shower wall, it did pop off but only because I didnt have it on a completley flat surface. (in between the tile, on grout, instead of only on the tile piece) I purchased this because my niece, that has disabilities, was visiting and I have a hard time getting her in and out of the shower because I have a smaller bathroom. It really did help her to feel safe upon getting in and out of the shower, with a person who is not that experienced in the area of helping her, yet. July 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product with great price Had one of my senior fall in the tube. I didn't want to install a permanent grab bar because the house is a rental. Took this out of the box and in second had a secure hand hold! August 4, 2015
