Customer Questions & Answers

After installation of my 2 piece Gacier Bay 1.28 the tank is definitely wobbly please advise

The tank is wobbling seems like it will move 3/4" front to back It is not leaking. Could this possibly be right or should it not move at all? Please advise.
Asked by: Anonymous
I found that I had to tighten the tank to the bowl much tighter than I thought I would. I used a set of pliers to turn the wing nuts. I'm a pro (home builder) and I've never seen a toiled require that much torque on the tank to bowl nuts. However, it didn't break and works like a champ. The wobble will stop, you just have to tighten the tank tighter than you think.

Is There A Solution For The Toilet Tank Chain Jam

This toilet is very good, but there's something bothering me that I couldn't find a solution so far. Once in awhile the chain that pulls and opens the flush gets stuck and it may stay running water all night long or even all day long. I couldn't find a way to contact Glacier Bay to find out if they have a solution for this. How can you contact them? I'm literally throwing my money away in the toilet.

Customer Reviews

2-Piece High Efficiency Elongated Toilet in White-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 271.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Buy Over the past 2 months, I have changed all 3 toilets in my home with this one. The toilet flushes strong, fast and fills back up quickly. This is a great buy for the price! It works great with solids and it has not needed to be plunged like my previous toilets. The ones that came with the house were the contractors brand and I would always have to keep a plunger nearby. That became so irritating. Keep in mind, that if you are replacing the toilet over a ceramic floor with backer board, then be sure to purchase another wax ring. To more specific, a wax ring that is extra thick. You should be able to use the flange bolts that comes with the toilet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality features at a discount price I purchased this unit after pouring over dozens of different models. I finally went to Home Depot near me and found one I could see. I found this to be a great value with features of units costing 2-3 times more. What I liked: Priced Right Quiet Flush Chair Height Elongated seat/lid Easy to Install Advise I heeded paid off. Based on other reviews you need: wax ring (too thin) Toilet seat (flimsy) Mounting bolts (heads too small to hold onto retainer ring) I purchased a no slam lid ~$20, wax ring ~$4 and bolts ~$3 and used them instead of what came with the unit. Total out of pocket was ~$120 with tax. This is a bargain even with the additional expenses (I recommend the additional wax ring and bolts at very least).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made and packed - good value - works well The toilet does what it is supposed to do. Do not use the included "wax ring" - use a "plumber grade" ring with a collar. This assumes you are a "do it yourself" type. Be patient and follow the instructions about the two sets of bolts. I would suggest you replace the skimpy pressed wing nuts with forged stainless steel or strong nylon wing nuts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why pay more???? Three weeks ago I installed this toilet to replace a twenty year old one, that was flat out embarrassing. I did not expect much as this one was not very expensive. This toilet has far surpassed my expectations. I am a big guy & I weigh about 330 lbs., & I love to eat. I never need the plunger with this toilet, get the picture?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toilet, great price, eats everything we put into it. We figured a toilet is a toilet. At 1/3 the price of the brand names, it can't be bad. My plumber had no problems installing the unit. I was very impressed at this toilet's efficiency. It uses very little water and flushes everything we dump into it. Incidentally, I weigh over 300 lbs. and I have sizable poops, and this little baby handles everything. So, don't waste your money on a Kohler or other expensive toilet. The Glacier Bay is for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty darn nice for the price!! After a quite lengthy 3 hr install this thing is up and running very nice! I had the most trouble with the bolts leaking that connect tank to toilet.I finally went and bought new bolts and put big rubber gasket on tank instead of bowl as directions state and that solved all my problems. As far as performance I do not think you will be disappointed! This thing flushes any and everything quite well!! I have used for a couple weeks now and have tried everything to clog it and have had no problems. I have thrown huge amounts of toilet paper in with the usual and it flushes fast and efficient! This thing only uses 1 gal. on a short flush (just pushing lever all the way down for a quick second) and 2 gal. if you hold lever down until tank is empty. I have water set at factory line. It has flushed pretty much everything on 1 gal quick flush....only once did I have to flush twice! Depending on how long you hold lever it flushes anywhere between the minimum 1 gal. to Max 2 gal. I have checked quite a few times so those numbers are pretty accurate. It also looks quite nice and is WAY better than my old round toilet! The seat is not all that bad and works just fine for me...I was going to replace according to reviews and have decided it is completely least for now! It cleans very nicely and looks like it will hold up better than wood seats! I did contact customer service for new bolts for tank and new plastic bolt for seat. They were very nice and sent plastic bolt out right away...received in 4-5 days and tank bolts over a week because they were not in stock. I find this to be acceptable unless you absolutely needed it quicker? Which I was forced to buy new tank bolts to get install done that day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does what a toilet is supposed to do very well I have in my life renovated over 10 bathrooms. I am having a very difficult time understanding why the FUNCTION of bodily waste elimination needs decorator design etc. etc.. I just installed 2 more of the Glacier Bay toilets in my new Florida home. I have them in my NY home too. I have spent upwards of $350 for a toilet (in the distant past) with which I can discern absolutely no difference in function from the Glacier Bay. It is comfort height - I'm 6'2" tall and am tired of having my knees in my face on the traditional "squat on the floor" toilets found in most homes and businesses. The elongated bowl takes just a little more room than a round toilet and is a feature well worth having. Easier for women too according to my wife and 4 daughters. Most importanly - IT DOES WHAT A TOILET IS MEANT TO DO and it does it with a minimum of water and so far HAS NOT CLOGGED ONCE. Is the seat provided thinner than seats you can buy - YUP- but it works and is just as comfortable as any other hard plastic seat - if it ain't broke why fix it? All in all this toilet is without a doubt a BEST BUY.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great price, a few modifications I was having to replace an older blue toilet from the 80's and saw this deal, everything included!. Starting the install I found a few issues. As a prior review suggested the included wax ring was too thin and I had to purchase another thicker ring. The included ring did not span the toilet to flange, no contact. Also instructions state after installing bowl to attach supply line and open water valve, this is before the tank is even installed, hmmm, good thing for some common sense. Lastly the included seat was a little too flexible, I am average and felt like it flexed too much. Overall satisfied except for the extra visits to buy parts to make it work. Flushes well.
