May be a dumb question but... here goes... Which is meant to be the top or bottom of the ends? The flat side or angled side? I suppose it's a simple matter of preference. In the illustrations of the product the 24 inch and 30 inch towel bars are shown one way and the 18 inchtowel bar and paper holder are shown the other?
Asked by: MisterDo
typically the flat side would be the top with the curved arch part on the bottom but you go either way if you want to

24 in. Towel Bar in Oak is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy conversion to matching paper towel holder This item can be easily converted into a paper towel holder of a reliable old fashioned design. Simply use a 3/4 inch bit to drill the holes holding the towel bar completely through. (You will have to expand them very slightly since the holes are slightly bigger than 3/4 inch) Now just mount the ends 11&1/4 inch apart and you have a great matching towel holder that is easy to use. Just slide the bar through one end then the paper towel roll and then through the other side. Very cheap, looks good and works much better than those plastic holders. I have the towel holder and paper towel holder side by side in my laundry room.

We decided to replace all the towel racks in both our bathrooms, so purchased two of these Glacier Bay towel bars from Home Depot and one longer towel bar (Dalton brand) from Amazon. Although the bars were similarly price, the difference in quality was astounding. The Dalton one from Amazon was smoothly shaped and sanded, well put together, and installed easily. The plugs that covered the screw holes were made of wood, and the effect was one of a high-quality product. Then we installed the Glacier Bar towel bars. All the edges are unsanded and coarse. The pieces that stick out to support the dowel were crooked. I had to take two of them off, re-drill the screw holes, and put them back together. The plugs for the screw holes are brown plastic. I had to file one down in order to fit the hole as it had an extra piece still attached (where it had been attached to another plug). Poor manufacturing. Poor quality control. By the time I figured out how bad these were and modified them, they were mostly installed and it wasn't worth taking them down and returning them to the store. Don't make my mistake. Stay away from these!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Good for Hollow Core Doors This bar will need some modification if you're installing it into a hollow core door -- which you might do because the finish on the bar matches or will come close to matching many such doors. First, if you drill the 3/16" hole for the anchors that the directions recommend, they will not fit (even tapping them in) because of the wings on the anchors. Drill 1/4" instead. Second, the anchors will stick out slightly proud from the door. That means that the wall brackets will not fit flush to the door and will wobble. It would have been helpful if Glacier Bay had slightly countersunk the BACK of the bracket at each screw hole. You can do this yourself with a non-spade 3/8" or 1/2" drill bit. Use low speed on your drill (not the drilling speed) and go very slowly or your countersink will go right through the hole to the other side. Don't ask me how I know this. Third, the screws supplied are slightly too thin for the anchors. I had better luck with one size larger screws of the same length. My ultimate solution for the install was to sand the finish off the backs of the brackets and off the door where the brackets would go. I put carpenter's glue on the brackets and used the anchors and screws to hold them to the door until the glue dried. Kind of a suspenders and belt method that has the downside that if you ever remove the brackets, you've ruined the finish on your door. I can't recommend these towel bars for installation on hollow core doors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Template missing The installation sheet shows a paper template to be used to position the bar exactly. There is no such template in the package, nor is any such thing part of the packaging box itself. It is certainly not an insurmountable obstacle-how tough can it be to put up a towel bar?-but the directions say such a template is included, so it should be.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Check the template before you use it. The template I receive in my package was off just enough so that the scews did not line up with the drywall anchors. I checked (after the fact) and there is a miss print on the template. based on other reviews this may be a temporary quality control issue, but if you purchase this verify the template before you use it.
