Is it made of particle board?

Asked by: Solo
I have one similar that I bought several years ago. The "wood" was either veneer or a very thin wood like substance that began to peel away very quickly. Also, the right mirror door has never closed properly. Very cheaply made, in my opinion. I have one in another bathroom that is similar, but is over 25 years old, and is still in great condition - that one was not purchased at Home Depot.

I am a landlord of 48 small 2 bedroom apartments and have been installing these units in my apartments for 10 years now. Yes, I own 48 of these. You get what you pay for. The hinges will rust if your exhaust fan doesn't pull out the humidity. And yes, the vinyl will peel off the door frames as well, if humidity is a problem. But if you don't get them wet, and have a respectful tenant, they will absolutely last for years. I know, I have lived with one for 4 years myself. I probably have a couple dozen of these which are over 6-8 years old. I simply replace them when they get tattered. For $49 you cant go wrong for an inexpensive rental. Just don't get them wet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for... I guess at $49 it is not awful, but craftsmanship is not a word that should be applied to this product. As soon as we got it installed, the center door started hitting the right side door upon closing. Apparently, the screws that secure the doors to the frame are set into very cheap particleboard and had already started to pull loose due to the enormous pull of gravity on the small doors. I have already permanently installed it into an existing spot, so I can't take it off and return it or I would. The vinyl woodgrain is peeling at the mitered corners and there are also some scuff marks on the glass that I can't remove. I wish that I had chosen a frameless model, at least there wouldn't be as much cheap particleboard covered with thin woodgrain vinyl.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doors popped out top After about five years, the hinge at the top of doors popped out of all three doors. I am assuming over time the top board on the cabinet warped a little and raised the pin out of the hinge. Its hard to describe, but there is not any way to fasten it. It slides up and down. Once the top board (partical board) warps slightly it causes the doors to come off the hinges. There are kind of like gillatines (spelling), because they just come down pivioting on the bottom hinges.
