One of the door hinges on my Glacier Bay surface mount medicine cabinet door is broken, how can I get replacement hinges? I went to HomeDepot and they do not have any hinges that are compatible with the medicine cabinet.

This medicine cabinet is exactly what I want but I need it in chrome. What is the frame actually made of? Could it be painted?

Asked by: skmoe
The frame is some sort of plastic composite but I have no doubt that it could be painted. The sides are mirrored if surface mounted.

How do you install side mirrors over the door hing hardware?

Door hing screws & nuts on top & bottom prevent the side mirror hangers being installed in the provided holes
Asked by: Bill
Hello, If you look at the inside of the cabinet there should be two whole tours the middle of each right and left side of the cabinet you will place the bracket tours the outside of the cabinet and the screw tours the inside to tighten the bracket. Thank you

Customer Reviews

24 in. W x 29-1/8 in. H Framed Recessed or Surface-Mount Bathroom Medicine Cabinet in Brushed Nickel is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 82.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Built to Last After installing and using these for about 1.5 years, the screws on the bottom hinge pulled out of the mirror door. When I took it apart to fix it, I discovered there was no solid support frame, just some kind of paper press board. For $170 you would think there would be a solid wood type frame on which the hinges attached, but no, these were cheaply made. I would recommend Hampton Bay change its design and add a solid wood frame structure, and recall units as they are built. We cut our walls and recess mounted the units, so now we either have to spend $170 to replace or start over (re-sheet rock walls etc). Disappointing for the quality look but cheap build. Wood frame underneath would have cost the manufacture dollars, but I guess they were too busy pinching pennies to increase profit. A recessed cabinet should last for years, this is not built to last.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Medicine Cabinet poor hinge design Do not buy this product!! I would give this product a zero if I could!! 3 months after installation the top hinge broke away from the mirror frame. The screws for the hinges are placed too close to the inside corner edges and pulled right out. That sucks!! It is such a good looking medicine cabinet. Not sure what to do next.

I purchased two of them. I had them open the boxes to check for any damage. No damage. I had them installed- recessed in the wall. I believe recessed in the wall keeps them sturdy. Absolutely love them. Tons of space! There are mirrors on the inside of the door as well as the back. I have so many cosmetics and they all fit. I purchased small clear rectangular containers at Bed Bath and Beyond to hold my lipsticks and Q-tips and so on... They were installed three years ago. Not a single problem. I love them so much we are putting two more in the other bathrooms.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor finish quality The brushed nickel finish is thin and wears through with opening and closing of the door. There is no handle or hand hold so anyone opening it uses the exterior surface which wears off to a cream color plastic

Rated 2 out of 5 by from point blank- the finish of the mirror frame rubs off and looks awful This is a very beautiful and spacious medicine cabinet...HOWEVER- the finish on the mirror frame does rub off and therefore, it doesn't keep its good looks very long. I was completely satisfied with this product until the finish started coming off. Now I wish I did more research and went with something else. They should really re-evaluate how to keep the finish from rubbing off and after they do that, they should replace all of the faulty finished mirrors they've sold so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good Looks Don't Last Bought this cabinet Dec 2014 for a complete bathroom remodel. Installed it in "Her" private bathroom. It was nice. It looked good and seemed solid. Until... First the finish started wearing off in some spots. And now today 1 year 4 moths later one of the hinges pulled out of the frame. The hinge, screwed into the plastic pulled out a chunk of the plastic frame with it.. I don't understand how they expect a plastic frame to take the stress and weight of the mirror. Took it to Home Depot and they won't do anything to resolve. Offered to sell me epoxy to glue back together. Even if they had given me a replacement I wouldn't expect it to last. Glacier Bay is manufactured by RSI exclusively for Home Depot. I think they should stand behind this product and recall it before someone gets hurt when the whole door falls off. Very Disappointed to say the least.

Had contractor install two of these medicine cabinets in new master bathroom. Bought for appearance, size, storage and mirrors. However, within first 6 months mirrors on side came off. One side mirror shattered. Apparently cheap tape is only thing holding mirrors in place. Had to use duct tape to keep other mirrors in place. Now five years later the bottom hinge on one of the cabinets has broken. Trying to get replacement parts. Would not recommend. Looks nice but cheaply made. Expected more for $169 each.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite item in my new bathroom! These look great. I bought two for a his / hers storage option. I downsized on vanity space in my bathroom, so these made up for it beautifully. The color / finish on these is really nice. I read reviews where people had problems with the finish and the hinges. My purchase had 3 quality hinges that are plenty strong enough for the door. Also, I have learned in the past if you are cleaning your mirrors frequently, just buy yourself a specific glass cleaning cloth that requires water only to clean mirrors or glass. It's my guess that commercial cleaning products like Windex etc... are probably not good for the painted frame on this cabinet. Deep space, great shelving options too. A little pricey, but there are not too many good looking medicine cabinets available so here you go. This frame color would go with either stainless steel/ nickel fixtures or brass / bronze.
