After installing and using these for about 1.5 years, the screws on the bottom hinge pulled out of the mirror door. When I took it apart to fix it, I discovered there was no solid support frame, just some kind of paper press board. For $170 you would think there would be a solid wood type frame on which the hinges attached, but no, these were cheaply made. I would recommend Hampton Bay change its design and add a solid wood frame structure, and recall units as they are built. We cut our walls and recess mounted the units, so now we either have to spend $170 to replace or start over (re-sheet rock walls etc). Disappointing for the quality look but cheap build. Wood frame underneath would have cost the manufacture dollars, but I guess they were too busy pinching pennies to increase profit. A recessed cabinet should last for years, this is not built to last.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Medicine Cabinet poor hinge design
Do not buy this product!! I would give this product a zero if I could!! 3 months after installation the top hinge broke away from the mirror frame. The screws for the hinges are placed too close to the inside corner edges and pulled right out. That sucks!! It is such a good looking medicine cabinet. Not sure what to do next.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MaryPauline Easy to mount glam - ladies choice
We just bought a new house. It came with a large plain blah builder's grade wall mirror over the owners' bath vanity. But there was insufficient storage for all our gear. We purchased two of these units for the massive amounts of STORAGE space they offer.
The included wall-mounting bracket has multiple slots for the wall screws. These slots made it easy to position the mirrors over our dual sinks. No missing pieces and every piece was CLEAN; it took two people more than an hour to mount the first one and less than an hour to mount the second. A lot of time was invested in finding the wall studs. We pre-drilled into the studs then screwed on each bracket. The instructions indicate that mounting just to the sheetrock is an option (instead of screwing into wall studs) and there are sheetrock screw mollies included. These units are on the heavy side and we want them to stay up, so we opted to stud-mount. Recess-mounting is also an option, however this takes more time, requires removing sheetrock, stud framing, blocking and shimming and makes a mess.
These are lovely surface-mounted! They do not stick out too far. There are mirrors on each side as well as INSIDE! A bit pricey (thus the GOOD rating instead of excellent) but really, will earn their keep over time based on how much we use them and how organized we immediately became. These units can be easily hung so that the door opens either way - no fussing with the door required - just turn the cabinet upside down. We mounted our pair so that the doors open butterfly-style - no more uneven sideburns.
NOTE: I recommend securing the side-mount mirror brackets before mounting the unit to the wall and securing the side-mount mirrors after the unit is up. And, a level is a necessity. And, the hinges are adjustable. And, the shelf mounting spoons took some force - clip these like you own them.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MaryBeth My favorite item in my new bathroom!
These look great. I bought two for a his / hers storage option. I downsized on vanity space in my bathroom, so these made up for it beautifully. The color / finish on these is really nice. I read reviews where people had problems with the finish and the hinges. My purchase had 3 quality hinges that are plenty strong enough for the door. Also, I have learned in the past if you are cleaning your mirrors frequently, just buy yourself a specific glass cleaning cloth that requires water only to clean mirrors or glass. It's my guess that commercial cleaning products like Windex etc... are probably not good for the painted frame on this cabinet. Deep space, great shelving options too. A little pricey, but there are not too many good looking medicine cabinets available so here you go. This frame color would go with either stainless steel/ nickel fixtures or brass / bronze.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pati beautiful look and is very functional
Until it was hung, I didn't realize how big it was. It hold everything I could possibly want to put in there and the inside mirrors are so useful.
Everyone love the look

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Helosoldier66 Poor finish quality
The brushed nickel finish is thin and wears through with opening and closing of the door. There is no handle or hand hold so anyone opening it uses the exterior surface which wears off to a cream color plastic

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lacey point blank- the finish of the mirror frame rubs off and looks awful
This is a very beautiful and spacious medicine cabinet...HOWEVER- the finish on the mirror frame does rub off and therefore, it doesn't keep its good looks very long. I was completely satisfied with this product until the finish started coming off. Now I wish I did more research and went with something else. They should really re-evaluate how to keep the finish from rubbing off and after they do that, they should replace all of the faulty finished mirrors they've sold so far.
