Answer:
There is a mounting bracket that bolts into the wall. It comes with drywall anchors and screws. I ended up mounting mine to wood, so I didn't use the anchors.
I do not think it would be sturdy enough to hold a man's weight. It is quite flimsy and is designed for a shower curtain, not as a pull-up bar.

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.4 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible quality I was tired of tension rods and their tendency to fall down, so when I saw this product for a reasonable price I was very pleased. However... The caps do not fit back on the mounting brackets once installed. They just hang loosely. I tried everything from screwdrivers to mallets to get them to stay on, and ended up cracking one of them with even a gentle tap from the mallet. I resorted to taping them in place. It looks awful. My advice: spend a few more dollars and get something of better quality. June 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very hard to install; Lousy and toooooo Small Print Instructions Unless you have the coordination, great eye sight to read the instructions, and good arm strength this product install will raise your blood pressure. The directions are in such small print it is nearly impossible to read. The rods slip and slide and the holes are slightly different size. Had to drill 4 holes per side to get it level. Had to use liquid nails for rods to remain in the plastic mount and then use chalking and clear silicone to keep the chrome ring on the plastic mount. It does NOT just 'snap in'! Had I known this all, I would have gotten just a non-permanent rod. UGH! September 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Out of Package & completed in less than 3 minutes! Easy to install, Good Quality, Home Owner Friendly February 25, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Clumsy design It presents well on the shelf, but....... the directions are basic to a fault. In addition, this is a 2-person install and even then the end caps that are supposed to stay flush with the grooves in the road mount do not stay in place. I do not give this thing more than 6 months to a year before it has to be replaced. Spend an extra 5 or 10 bucks and get something to last, September 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chrome Shower curtain rod Rod was easy to install above the ceramic tile on the walls. Looks and works great. December 10, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Slightly challenging to install The shower curtain rod was challenging to install because you have to hold the drill, the screw and the circle of plastic against the wall to secure it to the wall. I am a novice with a drill and not the strongest person, so it took a while for me to install the rod. July 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good concepts, poor materials of construction The supplied anchors twisted apart during install. The chrome plastic cover wouldn't fit back over the mounting plate - it cracked instead of snapping back onto the plate. December 7, 2013
