Yes I have a 5 gal in mine. It will also take a 3gal and for 3al. You can adjust the metal straw inside to fit, and only takes about two seconds.

Either. It can take a 3,4, or 5 gallon bottle. It just takes a small adjustment to the bottle "straw"

No. You must purchase the water and container separately. They also are sold at Home Depot. Exchanges are $6.99. And the first time purchase of bottle and water without exchange is around $14.00.

No -- hopefully you have a local exchange place or a beverage distributor nearby; otherwise enjoy parting with twenty + to amazon for a few ounces of plastic. My local walmarts seem to have gotten out of the exchange business -- I remember not paying anything obscene like twenty there, and, they came with water.

This has a stainless telescoping straw on a very "light" articulated hose, that's more than long enough to get everything situated well outside of the bottle compartment

yup! It has a solid metal pipe that goes into the tank with a locking cap that locks to the neck of the bottle. From that cap, there is a flexible hose that give you enough slack to connect said hose outside the unit, and slide the bottle in

That should work fine there is a long metal (adjustable) straw that goes into the container that sucks the water up 8nto the cooling/heating dispenser. As long as the secondary container fits in the bottom, it should work fine
