Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Remove red temperature governor to get hot shower This was in my house when I bought it. I had to remove flow governor in shower head to get enough pressure. Still had tepid water temperature until I took the steps to remove the cartridge and noticed that the red governor for how far you turn to get hot water is just a loose piece. The valve has its own full close and full open without it, so I completely removed the red piece. Now I'm getting a nice, hot, forceful shower. The plumber at home depot thought the valve was plugged and needed replacing--not so! At least he told me how to get to the cartridge. I still haven't got the face plate secured. The pair of very long screws (4 in.) are hard to line up and thread. September 13, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for (maybe a little less) with this fixture Same issues as everyone else...the temperature limiter is the main issue with this product. Worked alright in the beginning, but 6 months later the temperature struggled to get above luke warm. Installation instructions were adequate, but by no stretch of the imagination exceptional. Unless you're looking for a cosmetically pleasing cheap faucet for a spare bath, I'd skip past this one. February 10, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by hard-to-thread long screws to Dolfa, SanDiego, Like you, it was almost impossible to thread the very long screws. My solution: I went to Home Depot and bought a long 3/16 X 4 inch bolt (they only come in the toggle bolts package) With the faceplate off, I screwed and unscrewed the bolts numerous times to widen the holes for the long screws to go in. It was still hard to get the original bolts in, but you're able to now. Hope this helps. June 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by total waste of money I purchased this for my bathroom remodel. Once installed I could not get any hot water, and when I did it varied from very hot to cold. I did an internet search to see if anyone else was having a problem with single handle glacier bay shower valve. I found that I was not alone and that several people were having the same problem. I went to my local plumbing supply store and bought a Moen for about the same price. Easy to install and it works great. I have bought several glacier bay products over the years and never had a problem up to now. Save your money and buy a commercial grade delta or Moen. April 5, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Spend the money on something of higher quality As a Christmas present to my wife, I built a new bathroom with a walk-in shower. I was very pleased when I saw this unit in the store because it was the finish we wanted, with the valve included. Installation was very easy, and took very little time. The most time consuming part was trying to adjust the temp limiter. Even on the hottest setting, its not as hot as we like, so I just removed it and now it works much better. However, the shower head leaked from day one, and no matter how much plumbers tape I put on, it would still drip. Then last night my wife attempted to adjust the angle of the shower head, and it snapped off in her hand. Once it broke, it was obvious how cheap and flimsy the plastic is that this is constructed of. It's unfortunate, because it is a very attractive fixture, and the price is so good. But if I had to do it over, I would have spent the extra money to buy a higher quality model. January 8, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by How to fix the temperature limiter I just had to replace the cartridge on the Glacier Bay model 816635 after 2 years. I would have thought it would last longer. I noticed a lot of traffic about the temperature limiter. The temperature control device is on the cartridge. Turn off the water, Remove the handle, the face plate (Escutcheon in the directions), the trim cap and the sleeve (they both look like sleeves), and pull the cartridge out of the valve, making note of which side is up. The temperature control device is the red plastic ring on the top of the cartridge. The setting is indicated by a blue post on the inside rim. Slide it off the end, and set it where you want (I set it all the way up to + as indicated on the red plastic), and reassemble everything, and turn the water back on. February 5, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by very poor design, poor temp adjuster, leaking Initial install was easy but loike everyone else the temp control had to go to get enough hot water and then I couldn't adjust it to turn off. Home depot offered to replace the cartridge but still a piece of junk. With all of these issues they should stop selling this unit. January 27, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the look Just finished my bathroom redo. I change the tub into a standing shower. Love the look of the new fixture. Would recommend. April 29, 2014
