Will I have to cut a hole in my bathtub to accommodate the hose?

This question is from Builders 2-Handle Non-Deckplate Roman Tub Faucet with Hand Shower in Chrome-DISCONTINUED

Right now my faucet sits on a thing sticking out of the top of the tub. Will I have to cut a hole for the hose to retract into? It seems likely it wouldn't just punch up in the length of the faucet itself. Anyone know for sure?

Answer:
Thank you for your question. You will need some space under the hole of the pullout sprayer for that hose. With the water lines and the diverter under the faucet, there is no room for the hose.

Builders 2-Handle Non-Deckplate Roman Tub Faucet with Hand Shower in Chrome-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it...after 9 months of hating it We had this installed almost a year ago and absolutely hated how slowly the water came out. We couldn't fill our jetted tub in time to keep the water from getting cold--ridiculous! I'd given up on it and was going to have a plumber install a new fixture because we disliked this one so much. He took apart the hot/cold mixer (t-looking joint), we'd never looked there before. It had TWO flow restrictors in that little pipe. Took those out and put it all back together. Voila, normal water pressure again! So happy to finally get it working and wanted to share this with others after I saw the comment about it "running slowly."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Glacier Bay fixture!! Beautiful and very pleased. Don't bother hunting the net because from what I understand this is a Home Depot design only. It is unique in that it is the only 3 hole with pullout spray built into the faucet for a tub deck. The brushed nickel finish and design matches well with the other brand sink fixtures I purchased. However, if you are buying this to replace an existing fixture you need to plan ahead. We had to enlarge our existing faucet hole from 1 1/4" to 1 1/2". Which was easy as I have plastic deck not granite, but had to buy the hole cutter. The faucet comes with 2 flexible connector hoses but we found due to their length & the spacing of the existing handle holes we had to get a couple extentions and elbows so the hoses didn't crimp. We also didn't mount the mixer valve so we had more flexibility when hooking up. If you drill the 1/4" hole for the pin about a 1/4" further away then they recommend, then the spray hose moves freely and doesn't hang up on the edge of the 1 1/2" mounting hole. Was this all worth it? Yes! but wanted to pass on this info because when I bought it there were no reviews. It works & looks beautiful, but DIY's need a heads up. The design is far better than the instructions for using this fixture in a replacement application but it can be done and I am happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Take out the flow restrict disks BEFORE installing!! I purchased this faucet to replace the original Delta faucet that had been installed in the home. The plumber who installed my original faucet cut off the screw connectors and welded on copper piping. So much for reusing what we had... So, I selected this faucet since it had the pull out shower head. The water flow was VERY SLOW and it would take at least 45 minutes to fill the bath. The master plumber at Home Depot recommended a shut off valve of 1/2" Compression to a 3/8 inch FIP connector. I thought that the reduction in inlet sizing had restricted the water flow, but then I remembered that the plumber who had installed the original faucet had a 3/8 inch jerry-rigged pipe he had used so the reduction in size shouldn't really matter. I went back and purchased a 1/2" Compression to 1/2" FIP shut off valve (the original plumber did not install a shut off valve) and thought that this would alleviate my flow problems. I later learned that there are water restriction disks inside the T-Valve that reduce the flow of water to 2.5 GALLONS PER MINUTE. So, if you keep these water restricting disks in the unit it will take 28 minutes to fill a 70 gallon tub. I am installing the new 1/2" shut off valve and taking out the two water restricting inserts and I believe that this will solve my limited water flow issues with this faucet. The faucet works great, is build with high quality connection piping, and has flexible installation options (you don't have to connect the T-Valve to the outspout) if you want to place the T-Valve around the original mounting location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hated then loved it, also. I want to thank previous reviewers who commented on the two flow restricters in the T shaped mixer. We were looking to replace the faucet (we really liked the design) because of low flow and then I stumbled upon the reviews. We took out the flow restricters as described and went from 2.2 gallons per minute to 6.67 gallons per minute. I hope that new purchasers of this product read these reviews because it would have been a lot easier to remove the flow restricters before installing the faucet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The hot water switch is broken within only 4 months! I bought this faucet in June, and installed it in august. It worked fine for only 3 months. Then the flow of hot water started to reduce, weaker and weaker. In the winter the hot water was basically stopped. The plumber said the stem in the hot water switch is damaged and he did not have any replacement! I cannot even find out who the manufacture is by searching on the web! Who made this stupid stuff? Why it is so hard to find the replacement parts?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from flow rate i took the 2 water reducers out of the T-looking thing and it only increased the water from 22.2 gpm to 5 gpm, well below what is wanted...is there any other way to get more water out of this faucet??

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks fine, but slow We recently had this fixture installed in our master bathroom. While it looks fine, it takes forever to fill up the tub. Unfortunately we did not realize this until it was already installed and the tub was tiled in. I wish we had known to look into the "flow rate" before buying. Oh well.
