Will I have to cut a hole in my bathtub to accommodate the hose?

This question is from Builders 2-Handle Non-Deckplate Roman Tub Faucet with Hand Shower in Chrome-DISCONTINUED

Right now my faucet sits on a thing sticking out of the top of the tub. Will I have to cut a hole for the hose to retract into? It seems likely it wouldn't just punch up in the length of the faucet itself. Anyone know for sure?

Answer:
Thank you for your question. You will need some space under the hole of the pullout sprayer for that hose. With the water lines and the diverter under the faucet, there is no room for the hose.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good purchase loved the product easy to install grand kids enjoyed the shower June 26, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love it...after 9 months of hating it We had this installed almost a year ago and absolutely hated how slowly the water came out. We couldn't fill our jetted tub in time to keep the water from getting cold--ridiculous! I'd given up on it and was going to have a plumber install a new fixture because we disliked this one so much. He took apart the hot/cold mixer (t-looking joint), we'd never looked there before. It had TWO flow restrictors in that little pipe. Took those out and put it all back together. Voila, normal water pressure again! So happy to finally get it working and wanted to share this with others after I saw the comment about it "running slowly." January 18, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for a Roman Tub Attractive look, top part pulls out for rinse use. could be more cost effective, but nice design.. November 1, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Take out the flow restrict disks BEFORE installing!! I purchased this faucet to replace the original Delta faucet that had been installed in the home. The plumber who installed my original faucet cut off the screw connectors and welded on copper piping. So much for reusing what we had... So, I selected this faucet since it had the pull out shower head. The water flow was VERY SLOW and it would take at least 45 minutes to fill the bath. The master plumber at Home Depot recommended a shut off valve of 1/2" Compression to a 3/8 inch FIP connector. I thought that the reduction in inlet sizing had restricted the water flow, but then I remembered that the plumber who had installed the original faucet had a 3/8 inch jerry-rigged pipe he had used so the reduction in size shouldn't really matter. I went back and purchased a 1/2" Compression to 1/2" FIP shut off valve (the original plumber did not install a shut off valve) and thought that this would alleviate my flow problems. I later learned that there are water restriction disks inside the T-Valve that reduce the flow of water to 2.5 GALLONS PER MINUTE. So, if you keep these water restricting disks in the unit it will take 28 minutes to fill a 70 gallon tub. I am installing the new 1/2" shut off valve and taking out the two water restricting inserts and I believe that this will solve my limited water flow issues with this faucet. The faucet works great, is build with high quality connection piping, and has flexible installation options (you don't have to connect the T-Valve to the outspout) if you want to place the T-Valve around the original mounting location. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hated then loved it, also. I want to thank previous reviewers who commented on the two flow restricters in the T shaped mixer. We were looking to replace the faucet (we really liked the design) because of low flow and then I stumbled upon the reviews. We took out the flow restricters as described and went from 2.2 gallons per minute to 6.67 gallons per minute. I hope that new purchasers of this product read these reviews because it would have been a lot easier to remove the flow restricters before installing the faucet. July 27, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The hot water switch is broken within only 4 months! I bought this faucet in June, and installed it in august. It worked fine for only 3 months. Then the flow of hot water started to reduce, weaker and weaker. In the winter the hot water was basically stopped. The plumber said the stem in the hot water switch is damaged and he did not have any replacement! I cannot even find out who the manufacture is by searching on the web! Who made this stupid stuff? Why it is so hard to find the replacement parts? March 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Looks fine, but slow We recently had this fixture installed in our master bathroom. While it looks fine, it takes forever to fill up the tub. Unfortunately we did not realize this until it was already installed and the tub was tiled in. I wish we had known to look into the "flow rate" before buying. Oh well. November 30, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Answer to my prayer! This is the most wonderful Roman tub faucet. I don't know why they would discontinue it. I hardley ever used my whirlpool tub, because I could not wash my hair very easily . I did not want to go to the high expense of installing a seperate handshower and diverter, which would involve cutting two more holes in my tub, and extra plumbing. Actually, I only installed the faucet part, and left the old handles, which matched fine. I took out the two little white plastic pieces with a pair of needle nose pliers, which were in the T connection. This was what one reviewer said to do. It solved the problem of the water pressure from the faucet. It has more than enough pressure now, and just as much as my old one did. It only takes a few minutes to fill it up with 60 to 70 gallons of water. It was pretty easy to install, and I dit it all myself. I love, love, love this , faucet. I just wish they would remanufacture the same one or one similar, so that if something would happen to this one, I could get another. Thanks Home Depot, and Glacier Bay. February 28, 2013
