Why does this sink has no built-in overflow? Was it by design to reduce the cost or was there another reason?

The manufacturer's response was that it's unnecessary for the proper performance of the sink. But what if your kid stuffs play dough in the drain and turns the water on, for several hours? Wouldn't you want an overflow hole?! What a dunce. I wouldn't allow them to give me this sink for free!

The reason for that is becasue the overflow is not necessary for the sink to operator properly and most importantly Overflows are a major source of bateria in bathrooms and because of there locations as they are designed in basins they are very hard to clean or prevent bateria build up.

Rick69machone,
Thank you for your inquiry. Our best recommendation would be for you to apply a bead of clear silicone adhesive (brand is not an issue) to the vanity base in order to stabilize the vanity top. We suggest partnering with your local Home Depot’s Bath team for silicone adhesive recommendations.
Best Regards.

Why are there two holes under the sink on each side of the basin?

I noticed with this sink that there are two holes under the sink on each side of the drain holes up in there somewhere.. When I've tried using a plunger to unstop a sluggish sink, the water pushes up into those holes and out onto the floor of the vanity. When we removed the sink yesterday because of a stopped up line and my husband saw the holes, he tilted the sink and pure sludge came out of those holes. He was sooo upset with the design and said "what in the World are those holes in there for"? So we ask you, the same question. It means we can never use a plunger. We need to buy a new sink and vanity exactly like this one, as it fits perfectly in an area that no other sink except those acrylic ones will fit into.
But give me one good reason why those holes are in there? We are really hesitating to buy another one.
You answered someone else that wanted to know why there was no overflow hole, ours has an overflow hole in the usual place. Your answer was because mold builds up in the hole or line with the overflow hole. So if you are concerned with mold in that line, what about those TWO holes under the sink where water backs up into and overflows onto the cabinet floor with mold and sludge. Yuk

There are no holes either side of the "drain plug" in the one that I purchased. It works great and the water runs away really nicely. In fact, I just filled the sink and left the taps running to see how fast it actually ran away .................................... the water from the taps couldn't even keep up with the drain :-)
I'm thinking that you may have bought a defective basin.

I don't see anything obvious, but at the back the sides extend a quart of an inch further back than the sink. Am I missing something?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Half bathroom remodel weekend project Great Time for a half bath. We did the remodel of the entire bath including the tile. It is a great accompaniment. I love it. April 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No Overflow The first thing I noticed was "NO OVERFLOW" so when the random client walks in and forgets to shut off the water, the bathroom will flood and water will go into the ductwork. Bad idea...find something else. July 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad idea - don't buy it! This vanity/sink combination is without a doubt the worst product I have ever bought at Home Depot! I checked out four of these before I found one that I thought wasn't flawed however after I started to install it, I found a brown pock make in the finish that was a manufacturing default. I took it back to the store for a replacement and looked through three more before I found one that I appeared to be OK. I was sadly mistaken! When installing it I discovered a bump in the drain seat that would not permit the drain assembly (also Glacier Bay) to seal properly. After numerous attempts, lots of putty was the only answer. This product could certainly use a quality control aspect to it production. June 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth what I paid for it. Really easy to fit the hardware (faucets), however, use plumbers putty, NOT caulk as suggested. If you use caulk to fit the chrome piece in the drain hole it will leak like a sieve. June 29, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stay away from glacier bay Porcelain had rust marks on the first one along with a spot missing enamel. Second one had a spot that was refinished and smudged that I didn't notice in store. Had multiple issues with their medicine cabinet too. Stay far away from glacier bay. June 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Elegant, affordable cabinet We measured for the space in our powder room and found this model fit perfectly. The stylish curved shape & overhang of the face bowl makes the unit look bigger than it actually is. Yet it gives the piece a more elegant look that appears much more expensive than the 154.00 price we paid. The cabinet space under the bowl is generous for the small size of the case because it has a deep well cut out under the bowl which does not take away from the space under because the bowl actually fits over the top of the cabinet and the overhang does not drop down into the cabinet space. Clever!. The fit & finish of the material was very good, and it comes with a warm Almond color that works very well with the brushed nickel faucet we selected to mate it with. If you're on a budget and you're looking for a space saving alternative to the traditional bowl and pedestal configurations normally used for tight spaces, this is an excellent alternative and gives a much more functional and traditional look. June 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Definitely worth the money! The cabinets doors and the frame of the cabinet were a little crooked on mine, but not bad enough to take back such a heavy item especially at such a low price, what can you expect? There is a little piece of cork that is glued under one side of the underside of the sink, so if yours has this too, don't remove it, the sink will wobble on top of the cabinet without it. I also painted mine like other reviewers to match the wallpaper that was already in the bathroom. And I bought 2 brass knobs to match the new faucet. One other thing, since this cabinet only extends about 12 inches from the wall, it was too narrow to fit the faucet in that I also bought from Home Depot, so instead of cutting the sink stopper pin shorter, I drilled a hole through the back of the cabinet where you mount it to the wall.
