Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good solid seat I bought this to install in my new tiled shower. There is a 6" deep shelf on one end of the shower and I wanted a seat that would fold up out of the way when not in use and this unit fit the bill perfectly. I looked at teak seats of the same design and the prices were over the top for me so this was an affordable option. The frame is aluminum and very well made there are five holes in each of the two mounting brackets for your lag bolts, however, they only give you six bolts. Apparently three in each side should be sufficient to handle the 300 lb. weight limit. I drilled and installed five in each side just because I could and it was an added measure of safety since I'm no lightweight. I found the easiest way to drill and install this on tile was to put some painters tape over the tile so my pencil marks would show up. Once I marked my holes I drilled one on each side and installed two of the lags and checked for level once I was satisfied I finished drilling the other holes with the seat in place and that insured that everything would line up properly. One final note their instructions tell you to use a 3/16" drill for your pilot hole to accommodate the 5/16" lag bolts supplied, however; when installing on a tiled wall you will need to drill a larger hole through the tile itself to avoid cracking or braking your tiles I used a 3/8" ceramic bit to open up the hole in the tile which should go about a 1/4" to 3/8" deep, no deeper because you want your lags to grab as much material as possible to secure the seat to the studs. Overall the install was simple enough and the faux teak looks nice for a fraction of the cost so I'm very pleased with this product. October 14, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, bad instructions. The seat is well made and solid. We love it. The instructions, which are printed on the outside of the box as well as on paper inside, call for a 3/16" hole for the mounting hardware. And the plastic anchors provided with the seat are 3/8"....... Back to the store to buy the right size drill bit...... February 24, 2013
