Customer Questions & Answers

can top be cut to shorten length?

I need a top that is 28" X 22"
Asked by: Aggie
Aggie, Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend modification to the vanity top as it will void your warranty. Nevertheless, we have received information from previous customers that have expressed that they have been able to use a circular saw with a masonry blade, cutting from the unfinished side, without any damage. However, please keep in mind that the edges you alter will show white as the finish goes only 1/8 in. through the vanity top material so it is recommended that the area that is modified is not exposed. Please keep in mind, Aggie, that you also have the ability to custom order your 28 in. x 22 in. vanity top via our online customizer. All you would have to do is visit http://stpaul.homedepot.com/Vanity-Top-Customizer.html for your custom vanity top options. Best Regards,

Value of overflow is venting which helps draining. How to deal with poor draining due to lack of overflow?
Asked by: henrythe9th
henrythe9th, Thank you for your inquiry. We can confirm that the function of an overflow hole is not necessarily for venting allowance, but for there to be an area for water to flow through should the level in the sink rise, poor drainage is typically caused by other factors. Also, if you were to look under your sink, you should see the sink tailpiece dropping from the bottom of the sink and running into a P-shaped trap and disappearing into the wall behind the vanity, if the drain trap is an S-shape, with the drain exiting through the floor of the vanity, then proper venting is not present. Please remember, though, when a fixture is replaced (or removed) the need for proper venting of plumbing fixtures will omit the proper connection to the vent so this will need to check out as well. Best Regards.

Can you only use a centerset faucet?

Asked by: Misty
Misty, Thank you for your inquiry. We can confirm that the 31 in. Newport vanity top is pre-drilled to only accommodate a 4 in. centerset faucet. You may purchase a single hole faucet but please be sure that the faucet you purchase contains a base/escutcheon so that it may cover the extra holes. Our best recommendation would be for you to consult with your local Home Depot Bath team for the best faucet for your bathroom. Best Regards,

does this item have an overflow hole?

I need a basin with an overflow hole. Either a vanity top w/o a sink or with a sink that has an overflow.
Asked by: honeybee
Honeybee, Thank you for your inquiry. We can confirm that the 31 in. Newport vanity top in White does not come equipped with an overflow hole. As a leading manufacturer for baths sinks and vanity tops for the last 25 years, we have removed the overflow holes because it creates the opportunity for unwanted bacteria in the bathroom. Most overflows are designed so that they cannot be cleaned and, over time, will develop mold and mildew that usually will require the homeowner to change out their basin. With thousands of tops/sinks sold in the market today, our customers love not having the overflow/mildew issues. We can assure that all of our sinks are IAPMO Approved to meet or exceed the national plumbing code. Best Regards.

How deep is the sink?

I would like a deep sink. Most of these vanities I have seen have very shallow sinks. Are there different sink depths available?
Asked by: Misty
Misty, Thank you for your inquiry. We can confirm that the depth of the sink is 5 5/8 in. for the basin (alone) and 7 in. for the basin and drain. Best Regards,

How do you anchor?

Asked by: Slick
Slick, Thank you for your inquiry. We can confirm that the instruction manual that comes with your Newport vanity will only suggest the use of a clear silicone adhesive as a sealing agent. Another installation option would be for you to use liquid nails as an adhesive. Please keep in mind, however, that liquid nails is a permanent solution and may cause damage to the vanity should you make a mistake during installation and adjustments need to be made. Best Regards.

Customer Reviews

Newport 31 in. AB Engineered Composite Vanity Top with Basin in White is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Customer Service After I explained how unlucky I was installing this product in my previous review, I wanted to mention that after that I got contacted by the manufacturer and I'm impressed about the good customer service they offer, wanting to get involved and help me with my issue. I'm attaching 2 pictures to show how the vanity top looks like after I managed to make it work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So hard to install it Installing this was a nightmare, I updated my old bathroom and wanted a simple white vanity top, while this one looks really nice, it has some edge that didn't let the thing sit completely and now it just attached to my cabinet in the corners, I had to use cardboard as supplement to make it fairly leveled, and fill the gaps underneath with tons of caulk.. Now that it's installed it seems to be holding but I have a new problem, I wanted a single tap mixer and bought a very nice one that is supposed to fit both 3/4 and 1/2 with an adapter that comes with it, either size doesn't work because the predrilled holes are way too small! So now I have a vanity top that can't use cause faucet won't fit!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Typical Glacier Bay Garbage. I had already given up on Glacier Bay faucets when my kitchen faucet, within weeks, stopped flowing hot water. Now that I'm doing the bathroom, I figured I'd try a Glacier Bay vanity top, thinking "there's no moving Parts, what could go wrong?" Well the water seeps right through the casting in 2 spots. Having 3 herniated discs, I have already set myself back 2 days installing and dealing with this, and I'm not going to risk being laid out for a week tearing this out and installing a new one like I had to do in the kitchen. Instead, I'm going to stoop to their level and smear it all with silicone. Never, never ever again will I buy another Glacier Bay product. Garbage, garbage, garbage!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great replacement vanity top for the money I purchased this vanity top to freshen up an existing 22 year-old vanity in my powder room. The existing cabinet was in great shape so we painted it with Nuvo Cocoa Coture (deep brown) paint and added some square brushed nickel cabinet pulls. We purchased this top and a nice Pfister faucet. As previous reviewers have noted, this top doesn't fit older vanities as the entire surface on the bottom is not level. There is a 1/2" raised section along the outside meant to make contact with the vanity top, however the older vanities just miss making contact with this point. The problem is exacerbated if the vanity is against the wall where one side and the back will make contact, but the other side and front will not. I solved this issue by gluing two cedar shims together with wood glue, sanding them down until they were level with the raised under-edge, then used silicon glue to keep the wood pieces it in place, and also to secure the top to the cabinet. Alex from the King of Prussia, PA store made this fantastic workaround suggestion and it worked like a charm. I'm a novice DIY'er and this was pretty easy to do. I purposely put a significant amount of weight on various sections of the vanity top in an attempt to cause a crack, as prior reviews have mentioned cracking as an issue, however this cedar shim solution appears to make it very structurally sound. The end result is awesome! It looks so nice that we returned two new budget-focused vanity combos we had purchased for our two upstairs full bathrooms and decided to go with the refurbished cabinets and this top. The end-result is very classy looking and makes the vanity appear as if you spent much more than you actually spent. How good this looks for the price plus the fact that a relative novice like myself was able to pull it off three times now makes this a no-brainer recommendation. Well played, Glacier Bay. Well played...
