Customer Questions & Answers

I bought a filter 6 months ago can i get a replacement for free?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Frank
Yes, they have them in store. Brand X(blue) sells them under Whirlpool label.

WHY DOESN'T IT MAKE MORE ICE

I.VE CHECKED THE MANUEL AND IT DOESN'T TELL ME MUCH
Asked by: ROBERT
Did you purge the system after you installed it? If you only have an ice maker and not a water dispenser I am not sure how you would do that but it must be done to get all the air out of the lines and provide a strong stream.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fittings leak Unit was compact and easy to install but despite repeated attempts to trim and reinstall the supply tubing into the filter, it continued to leak on both supply and exit pushin fittings. After ruining the baseboards behind the fridge I returned to Home Depot and they provided a replacement which leaked as well. Checked and triple checked tubing and depth of tube insertion but not change. This product seems to have defective fittings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cover Fit Plastic cover over mounting screws has poor fit and falls off but is not needed. No options for fittings as the quick connects are part of the housing, so if you need an elbow you are in trouble lines only go straight in. Brand X sells the same, labeled as Whirlpool Brand so replacement filters should not be a problem for a couple years. That is why I was replacing this one, my Whirlpool Branded one no longer had replacement filters after ten years, time for a newer model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great on a coffee maker We recently installed a single cup coffee maker at work and had it hooked to the cold line from a nearby sink. the water here will ruin it within a year and the guy who installed it said that a water filter was too big and had more pressure than needed for this application. When I saw that he used an ice maker feed tube to feed the reservoir, I thought about trying an ice maker filter. So far, it is working great and was easy to install.

The objective was to make filter replacement a simple task of screwing in a fresh filter. My experience... pros: easy to install and (would be a snap to replace filter). Cons: reduced the water flow to a trickle at my frig. Went back to my original horizontally installed filter. No longer have to wait 2 minutes to fill a glass with chilled water.
