Since this copper sink is already pre-patined don't expect it do get much darker. However, it could get lighter in spots depending on substances left on the finish. For example if acidic substances are left in the same spot for a couple hours the finish would essentially be cleaned and become shiney, like a new penny. Over time the natural patina process will happen and the light spot will be come dark and blend in. Read Less

Answer:
Copper does change color and will continue to do so for the life of the sink. However the major changes occur in the first year. The sink should be dried after every use in the first year and then "let go".

Answer:
The 14 Gauge is better when buying a copper sink. For Copper and stainless steel the lower the gauge the thicker the metal and better.

Answer:
The gauge references the thickness of the copper. The choice of which is better is really a customer decision as to which thickness is preferred.

Your discription of the copper sink- #DAK 5050 states that it is 16 gage copper and the specs states it is 14 gage. Please let us know which it is.

I appologize for the typo, this product is actually 16 gauge pure solid copper. We will have the 14 gauge typo removed and corrected.
16 gauge is still plenty thick and durable.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful sink!! Beautiful sink and anticipate a growing patina. Even better, it was on sale so I received beauty, durability and good value in my purchase! September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful! I love my copper sink! As others have advised, it's not for the faint of heart. It either requires care or it will show the effects of wear. I don't have time or patience to baby my sink, so it is what it is, still love it! I left a peach slice in there and it ate off the finish, also the sink can be scratched by cast iron pans and such. So, if you're the type that wants a perfect sink, don't get this one. I love the natural material and don't mind seeing the transformation of my sink, so this works for me. ***also this sink came with the drain baskets, so they don't need to be ordered separately*** I ended up ordering and returning them. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase Big Bang for the buck....beautiful!!! Remodel my kitchen and this sink added the oomph! March 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst sink ever. This is sink is beautiful and it looked great when installed. But like other reviewers on here, showed signs of spotting from either water or ketchup or whatever else I'm not sure. It looks terrible!! I tried to polish it out with Brasso (that's what Google said to do) but after 10 minutes of polishing it looks like I would have to polish the whole sink for hours one end to have it all match one color and not look stained. Too high maintenance for me so I gave up. I'm going to Home Depot tomorrow to see what I could do about returning it. June 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this sink! I am very pleased with this sink. I like the color and texture. So far, it is easy to maintain - just rinse out or wash with soap and water. I do wipe it dry at the end of the day and I don't leave the soapy dish wand in it. I think it was worth the money. March 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful, but more rustic than expected I LOVE this sink. Very unique and much less expensive than some other solid copper sinks. Also not nearly as much echo or 'tin' sounding as it was before mounting, so a higher gauge is not necessary. Huge relief! I call it jewelry for my kitchen. Water spots very easily which is why I call it rustic looking, but cleans with metal polish back to shiny copper if that's what you like. April 9, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful sink, but beware that the finish comes off when ketchup is put on it. I love the look of this sink, but ketchup and similar products take the dark finish off and leave bright shiny copper spots that will turn green. These are NOT WATER SPOTS. We tested it with a little spot of ketchup. I read all the glowing reviews, so purchased. Wish now that I had not. It looks great with my countertop, but very unhappy with it.... We have not finished our kitchen in the photos. July 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks awesome cleans up easily Beautiful sink with great hammered surface. The distressed finish makes water marks disappear. It is easy to clean with soap and water and looks great with my dark granite countertops. It is a great value. I looked in stores and on the Internet for a copper sink. This was the best price for a great product. July 23, 2013
