You couldn't ask for anything easier as far as installation in a quality storage product. Simply level the panel on the wall and drive screws through each slat into every stud. You'll go through a fair number of screws (no hardware is included) but the panel won't budge.
I majorly cut down on space occupied by tools, particularly the long handled ones. Several varieties of the hook accessories are deep and strong enough to hold two or even three tools on one. Now not only have I opened up space in the corners of my garage so I can put in cabinets, I've also still have the space on the floor to use beneath the tools. I'm already looking to see where I can put more of these for different needs.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by JimL best slat wall
There are a variety of wall hanging systems. WARNING: You cannot assume BTW that accessories are interchangeable among wall systems. The slat wall you see in stores is heavy and has narrow channels, Unless you live in a big city, it is hard to buy 1 or 2 4x8 panels.
These 1 foot wide 8 feet long tongue & groove panels are light, easy to use, and easy to install. The accessories attach easily.
Plan on 28 screws per 1x8 panel. The factory recommendation is #8 1.25"-2" flat head deck screws. I used #12 2.5" stainless screws since I was mounting on treated wood studs. The tongue & groove seemed to fit better when I slid the top panel back & forth sideways (vice tapping with a rubber mallet).
An easy way to start the first panel is to mount a straight, level board, then simply set the first panel on it.
Since these are marketed to DIY, I'd recommend the instructions address common wall problems (e.g. wall not straight, studs not even, etc.). For example, position your first panel on the floor where you want it to go, then check stud locations. You may want to put in sister studs in corners or at panel ends.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Gabe Great solution, but at a price
The GearWall panels are really nice to work with. Just line up the studs and drill them in. I think they are a little pricey though, since they are just an accessory to put the items you buy and will use from them up. No problems holding up my ball basket.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Gabe Nice clean way to organize
The GearWall panels work great and are easy to set up. It is a great start to an organized garage. I do think the price could come down on these though.

Added these panels to my existing Gladiator system. They are very durable, look nice, and hold a ton of gear.
