Customer Questions & Answers

Can you mount these to the wall without the gear track?

Asked by: obrien809
Yes you can. You will need to provide appropriate hardware however. If hanging on framed walls, preferably hit a pair of wall studs or use batten strips if the cabinet falls between. I personally wouldn't hang a storage cabinet like this using hollow wall anchors alone.

how many shelves inside the cabinet?

when you open the doors, is there one shelf ?
Asked by: brian
Behind the doors there are two shelves, both adjustable, which is a little odd. I leave one right at the level paralleling the bottom of the doors. The second shelf - sometimes I use it in the cabinets and sometimes I do not (I have 5 of this model) depending on what I am using the cabinets to store.

Can these be stacked?

Can I stack one or two of these on the floor cabinet, Model # GAGB28FDYG?
Asked by: Roger
Thank you for your inquiry on Gladiator Garageworks. The 2-door wall cabinet is designed for installation on either GearTrack channels (GAWC042PZY) or GearWall Panels (GAWP042PBY). For safety reasons, please do not stack on any type of floor cabinet. You could install the geartrack or gearwall above the floor cabinet and then hang the wall cabinet. Also, please note that once installed on the channels or panels the wall cabinet will easily reposition (slide) along the track.

What is the height of the bottom open shelf?

Asked by: Paul
the bottom shelf can be installed at any height. I installed mine up a couple of notches so i could put tall things on the first shelf.

I needed to squeeze two side-by-side for storage needs at my garage entrance where wall space was limited to 56 7/8" by a beam to one size and the door to the other. All of Gladiator RTAs are easy to assemble. One just needs to make sure they have the panel orientation correct and that all tabs and slots properly aligned. Use a tape measure to square the cabinet when it's loosely assembled, and then tighten the fasteners home. Ignore other reviews about door alignment because you can correct this easily. The way the doors hang, simply slide them up or down as needed and tighten in position. To narrow or even the gap between them, have some small flat washers handy to shim out at the mounting screws. You can make it look perfect without much effort at all. At the entryway, I use one cabinet with both shelves and the other with one shelf in order to accommodate our needs. The reasons for 1 star knocked off is because the RTA Gladiator models are of much lighter build than the Premier Series. However, very few models are available in the higher-end premier series. When there is a choice of an identical style between the RTA and Premier, I will choose the Premier. Further, like most every RTA Gladiator storage piece I have purchased (and I have a lot of them), I had the following issues with every one of this model I purchased (5 in all over 3 orders and 2 year): - Even though arriving in packaging that is in perfect condition, at least one component is deformed. I'm quite adept with all the practice at straightening such damage to make them visually acceptable except for when there is an issue with a door because it will always be noticeable. When there is door damage, it goes back to the Depot because replacements from Whirlpool take twice or three times as long as a replacement order! For this cabinet style in particular, the bottom of the cabinet (with the wire grommet) seems to always have kinks to straighten. - The finish of the RTA is of lower quality compared to the Premier series as well. The texture and tone of the hammertone finish between the two is the most noticeably different, but the silver of the doors is also slightly different. This is certainly because the two series are not made on the same lines and same paint booths, but figuring this is supposed to be a modular, interchangeable storage system one would think Whirlpool could do a little better since they can do it with appliances. I personally don't mix and match the styles on the same wall, so it's not so noticeable. - The single hanger provided with RTA wall cabinets for Gearwall/Geartrack is frustrating because the cabinet does not hang plumb. When hung as per manufacturer's design, the top of the cabinet is proud of the Gearwall/Geartrack while the bottom rests on it. Thus, a forward tilt so things roll out of the cabinets! You have to shim out the bottom of RTA cabinets when hanging them on Gearwall/Geartrack, which is unlike the Premier series where wall cabinets have at least two hangers per cabinet. All-in-all, it's a decent cabinet for the sale price-point, which is always under $100. My advice is not to buy it at full retail price, and to also make sure you understand the size of this cabinet because it is on the smallish side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 Door Garage Wall Cabinet These are very nice metal cabinets. I had these now for about 5 months now and well-built and hold a lot of stuff. The assembly instructions are well written and for the ones that like pictures instruction it has it step by step. Very well done. It took less than 15 minute to assemble one of them. Once you get the hang of it, it goes a lot faster putting them together. The door have magnetic to help keep the doors closed. The shelf maximum weight is 40 pounds per shelf. A total of 150 pounds per cabinet. On these cabinets does not come with lock on the doors. The cabinets comes with hanger brackets to use with the GearTrack channels or the GearWall Panels that is sold separately. You will need no extra tools. It comes with all the tools and parts need to put it together. It comes with a 10-year limited manufacturer warranty. A great cabinet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks Good...Cheaply Made If you are in the market for a lightweight garage cabinet, then this is the way to go. Would not outfit an entire wall with these, just a bit to cheesey for me. Might think about driving in some sheet metal screws for added strength. There are better cabinets on the market for the money. This cabinet was purchased for $100, it's worth about half that, which would have made it a better buy.
