CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to apply, dries quick, fantastic results for the price We just remodeled out bathroom and used the green mold resistant drywall. Due to the color differences between the white drywall mud and the green drywall surface decided to use a drywall primer on the new drywall after it had been taped, mudded and sanded. We applied this primer with an airless sprayer with a .015 tip and got great results in no time. After covering up the bathtub and cement board walls and the floor it probably took around 15 mins to spray the ceiling and walls in our 12x8 bathroom. We got through exactly 1 gallon of the primer for this project so the coverage is around 250-300 square feet when sprayed. We just stirred the paint, put the sprayer tube in it and sprayed it on, there were no lumps or splatter in the finish either. Since we were looking for a super smooth 'Level 5' wall finish I thought I would need to sand it afterwards however we were able to apply the top coat of Behr interior satin enamel about 2-3 hours later and the job was done in a day. The primer did a great job of allowing the top coat of paint to go on with a consistent color and finish and the end result looks fantastic. The only comment I would make is that if you're planning on spraying it onto white drywall mud, you might want to tint the primer to the top coat you're using as it will be easier to see where you have or haven't sprayed. Unlike some of the other reviews, we didn't see any change in the texture of the primer while it was drying although you could see the spray pattern while it was wet/partially drying. These lines disappeared when it had dried as can be seen from the attached before, during and after pictures. May 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smart choice. Can't beat the price for results! I read a few reviews online before buying primer for A TON of new drywall we needed to cover. I probably would've just bought the Behr primer because the brand has such a great reputation. However, reviews told me to steer clear & save my money because the less expensive Glidden worked best. They were right!! The Glidden was only about $34 for 5 GALLONS & the coverage was excellent. Let it dry completely before making any snap judgments... it looks kinda scary as its drying! LOL. But after only one coat, it looks great. I've never reviewed a product b4, but I figured I should pass along this great money-saving option. I highly recommend trying this one. May 3, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great interior/exterior product As a contractor I need something that performs. I have been using Gripper for years with outstanding results. Raw wood, drywall/texture, over dark colors it doesn't matter. One coat of Gripper then put down your color and you are good to go. Great product! July 17, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My favorite primer! Glidden Gripper is my go-to primer. From finished wood to previously painted surfaces, this primer provides great adherence and gives a superior, smooth base for any paint project. July 18, 2015

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bubbles Has bonding issue to joint compound. Used this product over skim coat. Wait to dry couple days, after applying paint bubbled all over, had to redo all project. Do not use it over joint compounds July 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Patience Goes on smooth as butter but you will get scared when it starts to dry. I was headed to get a rag and bucket of water after about 5 minutes. When this product is drying, it develops a texture about midway through the process. Give it 30 minutes and it smooths back out. I used it over a partially skim coated wall to even out before painting. The wall turned out perfect. February 18, 2011
