1 gal. Ultra-Hide 440 Semi-Gloss Oil/Alkyd Interior/Exterior Paint is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not perform as marketed I purchased Glidden 3537 oil/alkyd paint that is actually some kind of hybrid that cleans up with water instead of needing paint thinner. In California oil based anything is getting so difficult to get because of our over regulated VOC's laws, This paint is marketed to perform like oil based paint that dries to that hard shell finish that you would need on anything that moves or closes like cabinet doors, windows, or shelves that you would set things on. All the latex paints never cure hard and things stick and the paint pulls off so I thought this would be the answer. Well wrong, this stuff is just like any water based latex semi-gloss or gloss paint, I painted a dual hung window sill and let it dry for a couple of days before closing it all the way, after a week I tried to open it and it pulled the paint up and the paint was all rubbery and stretchy like all the other water based junk out there. My suggestion is stay away, if tacky paint is a concern for you will just have to get a hold of real oil based paint to get that hard shell dried finish, I even tried all the high end brands that you can only get at their stores and same thing; the paint has just changed with all the newer regulations, you need oil based paint if you don't want it to stick. Home Depot was gracious enough to let me return the paint even though it was mixed to a custom color; I will be emailing Glidden about going back to the drawing board for this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Paint, but a few things to know I didn't realize that this was a hybrid water-oil paint at first. I was irritated because it didn't dry smooth and hard like an oil based paint would. I painted a bunch of wood molding with it in my outside workshop and it stayed tacky and sticky for a week. Also the brush strokes didn't lay down like they should in an oil based paint. It was very cold and humid when I painted outside and I think that had more to do with my problems than the actual paint itself. I used the rest of my gallon to paint some door frames in my house at normal room temperature and it came out much better. I think because it was warmer in the house the strokes flattened out correctly. This paint does not cure quckly!!! About a week after applying it it finally hardened up to what I would have expected from an oil paint. Now you can't tell the paint apart from the other trim in the house that was done in oil a few years ago. It seems to me that it takes a good while for the water to evaporate out and leave behind the allkyds, which will then harden up nicely. The more humid it is the longer it will take to cure. True oil based paint is getting harder to come by.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as hard and durable as they claim. Not as hard and durable as they claim. It's not even a true oil based paint. Calling this oil/alkyd is a misrepresentation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love The Coverage! I have use so many of your products and I believe them to very good quality paints. I love the thickness which provides great coverage and find that in most cases I only needed the one coat. Your paint is not watered down which is the main reason I use your paints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It spread on very well only nneded one coat for my new stairs. It looked great after I applied it. New stairs to basement, didn't take long to apply dried in a reasonable time. I did put on a second coat ,although it did not really need it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast and easy This is the only paint I ever use. I had three children under the age of two, and the clean up with this paint was fast and easy. It covered lots of flaws in my old walls.
