Customer Questions & Answers

Will this lamp accommodate a 15W LED flood light bulb? The mouth of the lamp looks narrow.

Asked by: SNL
I had a 23 watt CFL bulb in my lamp. It fit and worked but the bulb actually extended about a 1/2" below the rim of the hood of the lamp. I switched to a 13w that wasn't quite as long and it fits about right. If your 15w LED is too long, I'm sure you could easily find a bulb shape that would fit. The width of the opening in the hood is about 5 1/4".

light bulb

what wattage bulb does this require and approx how wide of an area does the light cover ? i want to put it on an outdoor table on my balcony and be able to read and eat dinner in the evening with enough light to be able to see - will this item do that please ? tx
Asked by: anne
The lamp accepts up to 60W. If you require addition intensity, a 26W / 100W low energy saver equivalent bulb may be used.

35 in. Heavy Base Architect Black Swing Arm Desk Lamp is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Paper weight The heavy base base makes a great paper weight and the light works. Everything on it is cheap. The knobs to tighten the degree for the direction on the light broke and so did other pieces. Mane good if you are not going to move it much but NOT if you work on many sides of your desk.

The lamp's webpage states the switch is on the base, it is not, it is on the top of the lamp. Just above the bottom of the swing arm there is a screw that must be removed before the swing arm will function correctly; there is also a screw and nut at the bottom of the swing arm that must be removed to enable full travel of the arm. None of these are mentioned on the box or instructions. The base is not heavy enough to hold the lamp when the swing arm is fully extended, I had to add a lead weight. The lamp will fulfill my purpose but only because I am using an LED bulb, an incandescent bulb would eventually destroy the switch.

Minor is the fact that you need to remove 2 small screws at the bottom pivot point in order to allow the lamp to pivot at the base. I can't figure out why the screws are there in the first place, but nothing in the instructions mentions them. The major problem is that the weight in the base is too light to keep the light from tipping over when you extend the light. I had to set a 3# hand weight on the base to help correct the problem.

While the arm appears to be fully articulated, the lower pivots are not functional, movement blocked by a screw. Only the two upper pivots are fully functional. Removing a screw permits limited additional motion, but not full motion. There are no instructions with the lamp that suggest removing the screw. It is well made otherwise.

I ordered 2 of these and they clearly indicated that the switch was on the base of the lamp. This is not so, the switch is on the top of the bulb shade. I returned one with no problems from Home Depot but had to go to Walmart to find exactly what I needed. Very misleading. I kept one as it serves my purpose of a desk lamp.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I bought the light because it was suppose to candelever... I bought the light because it was suppose to candelever and I would be able to move the light to many positions. Because the base is too light, the first arm must stay in a fixed position. So the light is basically a fixed light. I keep the light because the price was right and I was too lazy.
