This fixture is made for regular sized incandescent light bulbs 40 watts. For LED bulbs, there are a few reasons you might not want to use an LED bulb in a fixture:
If the fixture is dimmable and the LED bulb is not, the bulb may flicker or not come on.
If the fixture is enclosed, an LED bulb may overheat. (LED bulbs generate much less heat than incandescents, but they do generate some... and they're a lot more sensitive to overheating). Some LED bulbs say they're OK in enclosed fixtures.
LED bulbs are often larger (even if the mount is the same), so an LED might not fit.
If the fixture or circuit runs a small amount of current through the bulb at all times, this can cause a LED bulb to stay lit. This is usually an issue with light switches that have some electronics in them and don't have their own neutral (e.g. a timer or night light). I can't really tell what's going on with your fixture, but this might be the reason.

Answer:
Yes because it uses regular incandescent light bulbs, recommended 40 watt so it doesn't get too hot. Install your dimmer at the light switch.

Answer:
Hi Barbara,
Yes, you can control this light with a dimmer switch. Bulbs are not included, so when you select your bulb, choose one that is dimmable and if you select a CFL or LED bulb (which I highly recommend), be sure that it is labeled "Dimmable" and that the dimmer switch is also CFL/LED Compatible.
Thank you for asking,

Yes this light can be dimmed. It uses regular incandescent lightbulbs which can be dimmed with any dimmer. You just have to install the dimmer at the light switch.

Nice addition to weekend home. one ding though, we ordered three and one of them had a white screw-on "ball" on bottom of light. Needed to do a quick spray paint to adjust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect addition to my remodel I know very little about installing new lights or any remodeling but I am a total DIYer. I search DIY sites on how to do everything and then attempt it myself. Which really drives my husband crazy, but all of my projects have turned out great so far. I ordered these lights to replace some very ugly lights in my living room. They perfectly matched my drapes and fit in perfectly with my contemporary/western decor. I felt that the instructions were fairly simple to figure out and I installed both of my lights without any problems. I am considering purchasing more of these for the rest of the walls in my living room. They were a very good value compared to some of the other options I explored and they do not look cheap like so many others I tried. I always find photos of other people's projects helpful so I included a few photos of what the installed lights look like on my walls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wall sconces These wall sconces were carefully packaged in a strong box with lots of padding so there was no breakage. The sconces give a little color, kind of a Tuscan color brown to the standard white wall sconces. It looks real good in the bedroom, my electrician recommended using 40 watt bulbs so it doesn't get hot. Great purchase, secure packaging, would buy again.
