What are the sunlight requirements? I have a fairly shady backyard.
Asked by: Giorgi
The Nomad 20 is monocrystalline solar cell. So is charges off UVA and UVB rays. The better the sunlight the more efficient the charge.

Does this unit come with the Guardian 12v charge controller ?

Asked by: Lkl
The Nomad 20 does not come with a Guardian 12V charge controller. The Guardian will be available 1-15-16 as an individual unit. It will work with any of our Nomad Solar panels, or our Boulder 30 Solar Panel.

can it charge 12v batteries on boat and how mamy can I hook in tandem or would larger watt solar be more advisable?

Asked by: 0407
The Nomad 20 Solar Panel will not charge a 12V battery. I would recommend the Maintainer 10. However you can chain as many panels as you would like.

You can't even utilize all 20 watts using USB alone. USB ports are only 1 amp at 5 volts. Even if this had two USBs, that's only utilizing half of the wattage advertised. I am pretty sure there is only one USB port. The portable system you should get is Nekteck and it is only 50 bucks for the same exact thing. If you're looking to get your money's worth, for 200 bucks you could easily get 2 and a half times the solar with an insanely better charging capacity. For 200 bucks, you could get a 95 amp hour deep cycle for 100, a charge controller for 15, a 400 watt inverter for 20 and still be able to afford a 50 watt solar panel for 70 bucks. It just makes no sense that this is 200 freaking dollars! I really don't think an extra 150 bucks justifies that it is able to hook into their other products.

It is also the supply for a mobile ham radio unit, necessary for emergency backup power, and used with my Goal Zero Yeti 150, meets all the demands of my portable station.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I received it fast and I have used it once to test it and make sure it works. It charged my phone fast and works great! It isn't the most compact device, but it should work well out camping and is worth the extra space it takes to bring it along. I've never used a charger like this, but seems straight forward and easy to use.
