I am using this product for my bathroom as specified in the manufacturers specs. No problem. The specs say it can be used in areas above the shower or tub. It's not intended for areas getting direct water contact, true.
In my personal opinion green board was never a good solution for this either. Though, it was allowed. When I was building, I tore out many rotted green board tub stalls. I think this was usually because the tile mastic was not uniformly applied.
Just do a search on Goldbond XP drywall and you should be able to find the manufacturers site and specs.
That said, local building authorities will differ on their interpretations.
The first few sheets I got had some issues with the paper. It tended to peel more easily than I thought it should. The next few sheets were totally fine.

Great stuff. Used in basement. Green guarded for schools. Scores and snaps great. No fiberglass.
