In the world of composters, you have two basic choices, Bins and Tumblers. Compost Bins typically hold more than Compost Tumblers but must be aerated constantly. Tumblers aerate easily but usually don't hold as much material. The Compost Wizard resolves both of these short comings. Its massive drum is one of the largest on the market. Handholds allow you to get a grip to optimize your torque unlike complex, crank-driven systems that are clunky and break overtime. The low profile keeps it from blowing over in high winds, helps keep it out of sight, and makes it convenient for loading and unloading material. A common problem with all composters is that you must transport material across the yard which can be heavy. The Compost Wizard's drum can be leveraged off of the base and rolled to your desired location No heavy lifting! And the 16 in. twist lid makes access very easy while also sealing in precious compost tea and keeping out animals. Fresh compost can be made in just 14 days and you only have to turn it once a week or after addition of new material. And to make things easier, it comes completely assembled so you can start composting immediately.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poorly designed, Riveted top pulled through plastic bin. The lid is placed on top and riveted down. When you roll the product, the compost pushes against the riveted top. My rivets pulled through the plastic making it now impossible to roll the bin. They should have placed the top under the plastic rim instead of over. This would have made it much more sturdy. However, it no longer works, and lasted about 6 months. Wouldn't recommend. JB weld won't fix it either, I tried. February 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The smaller sizes turn easier I have at 6.5 cubic food Wizard also. I find the smaller wizard turns much easier, since it turns easier, I give the smaller Wizard more rotations than the larger, thus the smaller wizard will mix better and compost better. If I had it to do all over again, I would have bought 2 9-cubic foot Wizards. Though I will likely get another 6.5 and go with the 3, since I compost quite a bit and will use the compost for growing lettuce and other greens, as well as garlic. As note on all composters: None will produce compost in 4 weeks. That claim by makers of composters is only backed up by shredding all material to dust size, mixing to exact formulas of materials, using a moisture meter, and turning 5 times a day. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Very Good Composter I have had the Compost Wizard for a couple of years now. Never tried to compost before, but now I use it almost every day. The size is perfect for us as I add to the contents almost every day. Over this time I learned a lot as no one ever explained everything about composting to me. Do not locate the Compost Wizard on a patio or driveway. After finding out the hard way, I found some space in a planter area in the side yard. That way any liquid coming out of the holes on the ends go into the dirt and will not stain anything. I kept bags of leaves from the Fall (instead of throwing them out) and add them to the composter when it begins to look like it is getting too wet, but not to the point that the additional leaves dries out the contents. I have added worms to the composter to keep the process working. I also try to turn the composter about 5 turns once a day. Once it gets a little over half full I stop adding anything for a week. Then I empty the contents into some very large nursery plant containers to be used later. There the contents will dry out and complete the composting process. Filling up the composter makes it very difficult to turn as it becomes very heavy. While the Compost Wizard is not perfect, it is the best composter I have seen and I would recommend it to anyone who wants or needs a large capacity composter. February 5, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RECOMMEND WITH RESERVATIONS I have the Wizard Jr. I recommend the Wizards for easy set-up because no assembly is required. It is easy to roll off the base and around the yard. The lid is a screw-on type lid and is plenty wide enough even on the Jr. model to get a shovel into it. Just a whole lot of engineering pluses except for one major flaw for me. The holes located on the sides of the barrel let in too much air circulation and my compost never broke down well even with additions of compost starter and multiple daily waterings, not to mention the dark liquid that pours out of those holes when the barrel is turned and definitely stains a patio or cement slab. Next time we use it we will make a separate slab to set it on and will have to figure a way to cover up about half the holes to give the compost a chance to get composted! We put dry leaves in with the kitchen scraps and the leaves NEVER broke down and the black gooey kitchen compost stuck to the dry leaves so most of the rich black gold got wasted. Next time we will fill it using kitchen scraps with very minimal brown to green ratio if we can't figure out how to plug the excess holes. It's messy to get hand tools into the inside corners of the barrel to scrape off the compost that sticks to the sides and leaves a mess on arms and gloves. My low-cost trash can is an easier home-made composter making good black gold IMO but then it doesn't look as good as the Wizard in the yard, so I rate the Wizard as average. November 28, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great features The molded grips in the barrel make it easy to turn, even when full. May 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This composter serves the perfect need for our family. It is light weight, very durable and should last for many years. I would recommend this for anyone that is serious about composting. It is weather resistant and a perfect fit for our needs. April 1, 2014
