Set it up and we had a thunderstorm that evening. The next day it was completely full. A great way to help water the veggie garden.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SueH Sturdy Rain Barrel
I ordered this rain barrel thinking the lid came off. It does not - only the tiny (relatively) screen for catching debris - and for this you need a screwdriver to remove it. Considering the barrel needs to be cleaned out for winter and stored this may be an issue. I also got the stand for it - thanks to some other reviews that indicated the faucet is too close to the ground without it. This is true. Installation was relatively easy for me (a 50-ish woman) after getting a hacksaw to help with the downspout section removal.

The plastic screen on top was too fine to let water through. I had to cut the hole in the top to make it much larger. No provision for hooking an overflow hose. You sure can't hook one up to those small holes in the front. Whats the object of the screen over the holes? I drilled a 1/2 inch hole in one of one of the protrusions on the back and slid a garden hose over it but it still overflows in a downpour.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Major This is what I have been looking for after my first barrel weather cracked and started leaking!
The Barrel has an available base that allows for gravity draining (a separate item) that replaced the two concrete block I used for the previous barrel. It also has an opening in the top large enough to see the contents of the barrel and a 3/4" pipe tap for a faucet for drainage. I replaced the furnished faucet with a right angle valve for greater flow.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by jeancea This product appears to be great.........
After only about 1 month of usage, all the water drains out near the bottom of the barrel where the seam is. Although, it might be great for others, I was highly dissapointed in the product. For the price you are paying, you would expect greater value for your money.

Easy to setup and very easy to use with a stand. Provides quite a bit of water easily.

I bought three of these barrels with the diverter kits. (I didn't need the diverters for my use). I had extra gutter elbows and modified the gutters to go directly to the top of the barrel intake for accepting the water. I'm ordering another one for one more gutter I have. When taping the spigot thread, I only wrapped the telflon tape 4 to 5 times in a clockwise direction (with the threads facing me). Using all the teflon tape can be way to much and the brass threads will misthread the plastic barrel outlet. Be sure to thread the brass spigot in the plastic barrel threads at eye level and make sure that it goes in flush while viewing from either the left side or the right side, etc. If it starts to skew, then start over, retaping, making sure you don't wrap the threads too many times. My barrels are working just fine, no leaks. After I had installed them, the 50 gallon barrels filled up completely within a half hour of very heavy rain. I will order more rain barrels for water storage and install overflow hoses leading to a drain field. I live in a temperate rain forest and these rain barrels will work well in the possible dry summer months for my solar timed drip system for my greenhouse. Delivery was quick. Directions were easy. The product is sturdy and looks good around the house. I bought barrel stands and they are worth it, (extra pressure from the raised elevation).

So far so good, if the gutters I had installed work the next rain storm.
