Product Overview

The Rain Wizard Urn is a thing of beauty and clever design. Constructed with thick and durable polyethylene resin which holds up to the harshest elements, the exterior has the appearance of a terra cotta urn. The graceful lines, curves, and garnishes on the exterior make it an accent piece on your home’s exterior and not something that just sticks to your house. The flat back design optimizes space used and allows you to position the barrel close to walls or flat areas. The top is the only of its kind that not only acts as a planter space, but also features a unique watering system that leeches excess water from the barrel itself. There is also a channel built into the rim which diverts overflowing water to the front and away from the barrel and home foundation. You can have peace of mind that you're helping the environment by conserving water and giving your garden the best water it can get, devoid of harsh chemicals and rich in nutrients. And you can perform that conservation without sacrificing your home's outer appearance with the very stylish and functional Rain Wizard Urn.

Customer Questions & Answers

Is this mosquito proof?

Asked by: tucker
Hello, Tucker. We can't say that it is mosquito proof but we have never had a mosquito complaint since the product was released to the market in 2010. With that said, it's recommended that you fill the top planter area with either rocks or plants. This will avoid any potential flooding or blockage from stray debris that could create standing water if not attended to. Thank you for your question.

I have.gotten 24"/2cu ft terra cotta plastic planter pots from Home Depot which in cloudy San Fransico, became brittle

In 10 yrs. How UV resistant are THESE???
Asked by: BillSF9c
In 10 years, your Rain Wizard Urn will look the same as the day you bought it and the physical properties will not be affected. We use the highest UV rated polyethylene in the industry. We do this because we want your product to last a lifetime and beyond. Most plastic product purchased in the market place are injection molded which is a high stress process on the plastic molecules. That's why most plastics become brittle outside of the breakdown of those molecules. We rotationally mold our parts which is a low stress process that allows for (relatively) flexible walls and very strong corners. I have personally had a Rain Wizard 50 for almost 10 years now and I can still hit it with a hammer and expect little more than a small dent. Hopefully this helps you with your decision and thank you for your question.

If we cannot open the top, have you a dwg to offer.such that we may determine if.we deem it sufficieny easy ro clean?

The 36" depth means a.long toilet.bowl brush JUST for thia task must be purchased and stored if normal access is denied or slime will develope.
Asked by: BillSF9c
Great suggestion by BillSF9c on the toilet brush. If there is very strong build up and more aggressive scrubbing is needed, a brush like this would work followed by cleaning with an apple cider vinegar soak. Unfortunately, we can't upload a drawing in the questions section but we will try and get more detailed shots of the screen area loaded. The hole under the screen is about 4" in diameter. This is usually sufficient for taking a hose and spraying into the lower section of the barrel where most of the accumulation will typically be. Thank you for your question and have a great day.

Am I correct in assuming that you can connect a hose to the spigot in order to empty the barrel? Thank you.
Asked by: bookworm91910
Yes. A standard 3/4" spigot is used on all our barrels. An equally sized garden hose will fit. Thank you for your question and have a great day.

Customer Reviews

65 Gal. Rain Wizard Urn is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing Although the urn has ports in the back to connect or drain the overload, those ports face back to the wall. Unless you can find an elbow that fits the port to channel the flow out the side, they are useless. The drain holes for the upper well also drain the water toward the wall, channeling the overflow to the base of your house. I would not buy this product again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Watering Made Simple This is my 2nd Rain Wizard. The style, ease of installation and overall design is perfect for what I needed. I added a pergola to my deck a few years ago and wanted a way to capture the rainwater. I installed a gutter system to the pergola and added the rain barrel to the downspout. It's very handy and even the dogs love the fresh rain water!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome barrel The rain barrel was perfect for what we were looking for. It looks beautiful and was very easy to install. We called the company because we weren't sure what the nozzles were on the back. They were very nice (and knowledgeable) and explained what all the features were. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about; the barrel is very much opaque. If there's a bright enough light some of it will come through the plastic, but we've never had issues with algae. We haven't cleaned ours out yet (doh!) so I don't know if there's standing water. But like I said, everything is going great and our garden plants have been looking very good!
