Will Goof Off remove the glue from self-adhesive tiles that were removed from a porcelain floor?

Rehabbing an old house (1947) and there are self-adhesive vinyl tiles on top of the old yellow and black porcelain floor. I was able to remove the tiles but the floor is covered with glue. Will Goof Off remove the glue?
Asked by: DIYER
Goof off works good for removing leftover adhesive. I suggest testing in an inconspicuous location first.

16 oz. Professional Strength Remover is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ruined Copper Mug Goof Off may very well remove sticker residue off many surfaces, but because it contains Acetone and Xylene the aggressive solvents will ruin MANY MANY surfaces. Used it to remove price sticker from brand new copper mugs. In a matter of seconds the sticker was removed but also splotchy removal of the copper clear coat. Brand new copper mugs ruined! I'd be careful using this on anything other than uncoated metal, glass, ceramics, porcelain tile, etc-- basically only use it on surfaces that are nearly impossible to damage with solvent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible - and so many uses The first owners of my home left the plastic film cover on the fireplace when they first lit it! For years I have tried everything to remove the burned plastic on the fireplace sides, but to no avail. With a little rubbing with Goof Off, it 'washed' away. On the fireplace hearth -although I had washed it 'clean', an application of this product showed deep down black tar, which it removed. So then I tried it on my enamel stove edges -dirt lifted right off where Clorox spray, various cleaners steel wool, had no effect. I used it on the inside of the refrigerator handles and at last they looked clean and sterile. In other words, this product works in places around the house that you have virtually given up on.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK for small stuff, but Not for large jobs I have used Goof off plenty of times to remove sticker residue from various small items and it has always worked fine, but it does have a strong lighter fluid odor. Now, I decided to try goof off to remove glue residue from a large decal on a box trailer. Oops, Goof off is not good for the big stuff! Goof off softened the decal glue perfectly so that the glue smeared everywhere without coming off! I gave up after wasting half of a can of Goof off on the decal glue. I resorted to using paint reducer which did a great job of removing the decal glue, But the paint reducer also removed some of the paint from the trailer. Oops again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic remover of Deck Stain off of siding Was trying to removed dark red/brown deck stain that I got on white vinyl siding. It was done when I first moved in about 6 years ago and never cleaned it up until now. First I tried gas and some WD40 thinking it would help, it barely removed anything after scrubbing pretty hard. Then I got Goof Off and within seconds it was coming off with light scrubbing! It saved the day and worked awesome! I did wear gloves when using this and was safe using it as it has a strong odor. But A+ on removing deck stain from vinyl.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goof Off is amazing! This product was well worth the money. I recently purchased a home and have been doing massive amounts of renovation. All of this renovation led to messes everywhere, including paint stains, caulking and construction glue. Goof Off cleaned up every single one of those messes without a problem. I would recommend using a stainless steel brush to scrub with this product, it makes it easier. Also be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after use because it is very irritating to the skin. Great Product!!! Definitely recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Best left for exterior jobs It was stated on the label that this product would remove adhesives and glue. I used it to try to remove vinyl tile glue off concrete in the basement. It did a mediocre job at best and since it is acetone based you have to scrub it within a couple minutes of applying it before it evaporates. Also the fumes was overbearing even with all windows and doors open and a couple of fans trying to circulate the air. I expected the fumes to be strong but not so strong that I have to put on a chemical mask. Overall it did remove some of the adhesive but I would recommend using this product on outdoor projects and not on such a large area.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New formula doesn't work well on paint The old Goof-Off was awesome for removing paint. Used it a lot, especially for getting dried paint off paint brushes. The formula has changed to 60% acetone, which doesn't have the same effect, and can damage plastic. I don't know why they changed something that used to work so well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool Stuff!! This is cool stuff! I am remodeling and painting. My stainless steel sink looked awful with the paint stains and blotches. Went online searching for something to clean my sink and counters. Saw a recommendation for this Goof Off so I ordered some to try. It works great!! Took all the blotches away and softened the paint to where it wiped away. I have used this on my countertops...A OK, on my stove...A OK, and on the microwave....A OK! All areas cleaned right up and the paint softened so it could be wiped away. I did use it on a side piece of plastic and it took some of the black coloring off along with the paint blotches. Small price to pay with all the paint drips I had. (I am far from the neatest painter) I read that it removes many other stains and look forward to trying it in other areas. For this review, it works great on month old dried Latex paint removal.
