I am a DIY'er and this is a good product but I think the how to could have been a little more definitive. (For a DIY'er it's the smaller details that make the difference. The smaller details are what an experienced person doesn't worry about.) I am a visual person and the accompanying video could have been more detailed, for example clearer instructions on the mud bed and the limits needed to ensure the system works. The system worked but I had to figure out some smaller details as I went along. Not perfect but I think it will still work....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Difficult to install As far as I understand this product is intended to diy'ers. I installed it and it wasn't good proof. If I could I'd rip it out and install the red guard shower system. It is very low profile without the need to mess with cement or an unwieldy vinyl liner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Product for the rookie After buying the 8 piece kit I realized the liner and the square drain was overpriced compared to buying them separately and just buying the 6-piece kit. Overall the kit did help me establish the correct slope which I had never done. I probably would not use this product for my next one as I can make the slope on my own using a couple of different length levels. I would only recommend this to people like me who have never done a tile shower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install I pulled out my bathtub and installed a 36 inch x 60 inch tiled shower. Used the Goof Proof shower kit to build the shower. Installs and works as described. I had to go out and buy extra Kerb pieces to finish. But, the video was easy to follow, watched it several times before and during the install to make sure I did what they said to do and when to do it. I would suggest them to explain a little more in detail on how to mix the portland cement and sand. I had a hard time getting the the mixture like they stated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORKS Even for novice shower pan installers We did our own shower pan and shower 6 years ago using this product. (At the time it was only available direct from the manufacturer). We are NOT shower installers, we are DIY homeowners that are precise and picky. It came out amazing. It was SIMPLE to use, easy video instructions and worked excellent. We subsequently helped my sister in law do their shower and are now preparing to do our guest shower. The hardest part was getting the cement consistency right and trying to level the slope just right to avoid dips. I was absolutely thrilled to find this product as a premade shower pan is several hundred dollars. For experience level gauge, I had done NO prior shower pan work OR tile installation. I clean houses and my husband does computer work. But we LOVE DIY projects and this was a biggie for us, but smooth sailing and 6 years in, no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goof Proof Shower Kit I installed two of these kits in my home. This remodel is my first big attempt at home construction so I am definitely at novice. I was able to install these two kits without any issue. I did review the dvd that came with the kit at each step of the way just to make sure that I had the sequence correct. The biggest question I had was on the mud mix that is not part of the kit, but of course is intregal to the whole process of installing the shower kit. I went on-line to find information on a dry pack consistency and got the mix ratio that way. The shower liner installation was the most difficult part in my opinion with the folding of the material in the corners and making sure that it does not interfere with the cement backer board that is installed over it later. Good new from the county inspector, they both passed the leak test and I am now ready for tiling.
