Product Overview

Gorilla Tape has taken duct tape to a new level. Gorilla Tape's toughness surpasses ordinary tapes, making the list of uses virtually endless. It sticks to rough and uneven surfaces, including wood, stone, stucco and brick, that ordinary tapes can't hold.

  • Double-thick adhesive: grips smooth, rough and uneven surfaces
  • Tough, reinforced backing: the tight weave contributes to the heft but Gorilla tape can still be ripped by hand
  • Rugged, weather-resistant shell: withstands moisture, uv rays and temperature extremes better than other tapes
  • Use both indoors and out

I need a tape that I can use to piece together cardboard and then paint the cardboard and the tape with minimum seam visibility.

Answer:
Since the tape has a slick surface and is thick, I think it will show. But using a primer paint first will allow it to accept the finish paint.

Gorilla tape is thick and black. If using cardboard, just about any tape will do. They now have duck tape in colors and designs.

Hi Carmen,
You should have no problem using the tape to piece the two pieces of cardboard together. I have never tried to apply paint to the surface of Gorilla duct tape however, if I were to do so, I would choose to use a latex based paint over an oil based paint. The oil may cause the tape to break down where the latex should have no affet to the tapes physical property.Hope this information

Answer:
Hi Carmen! Yes, you can paint Gorilla Tape. Please be aware that once dry, many paints will peel off the surface of the Tape. We recommend using “Krylon Fusion for Plastic Paint” – a spray paint that won't peel off the surface of the Tape.

Answer:
Yes you can paint on this tape without a problem. The best type of paint would be spray paint. If you would like to brush it on, you can, just make sure to use an oil based primer first.

Hi Lady P! Good question. The adhesive on Gorilla Tape is so aggressive that it has a tendency to pull all the fibers off of some brown paper bags. Hi Lady P! Good question. The adhesive on Gorilla Tape is so aggressive that it has a tendency to pull all the fibers off of some brown paper bags. Basically, the adhesive on the Gorilla Tape may become clogged with brown bag fibers, and if that happens, the tape is likely to release from the bag. If you apply the tape several times to the same location on the bag and pull it off quickly (without ripping the bag), you can use the tape to remove most of the fibers. Then, the tape has a better chance of sticking. Just make sure to apply pressure to the tape when it is finally applied. If the brown paper bag you are using has a smoother surface, and is not as fibrous, then the tape will have no trouble adhering. We recommend testing the tape on a small portion of the bag first to see if it will work on the particular type of bag you are using. Read Less

This may be a temporary solution and you would have to sand the plastic, glue it in place when it is clean and dry before applying the tape. I would look for another way like epoxy.

Hello Jimmy!
Yes, this tape will work for your ice rink. I would recommend taping both sides of the seem (the side with the water and the side that will be on the ground) to ensure that no water gets through.

1-7/8 in. x 35 yds. Heavy-Duty Duct Tape is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good on wood Used it on pieces of wood that needed to be glued together at odd angles while I figured out how to clamp effectively. It held up to being bumped and jostled without becoming unstuck or stretching. The pieces didnt move a bit. Sawdust prevents proper adhesion so make sure surfaces are clean and dust free (not sure about moisture). How you put it on is also important - apply lots of pressure for very strong bond and light pressure for less. It came off pretty easily and did not damage surfaces or leave residue.

I have always been blessed to call someone to fix things around the house. I am not a DIY person, but times have changed and saving $$ is a must. Our city was under a wind advisory and I was a victim of a blown fence. I recalled the commercial last year showing the guy fixing his kids tree house. Went to Home Depot and bought three rolls. After figuring out how to work this tape effectively, I was able to secure my fence for $8 (only needed one roll of tape; on sale for $7.97) until I can properly have a part of my fence replaced. This stuff works and I will never use regular duct tape again. Overall, I am very satisfied and will keep the two rolls for other DIY stuff. Gorilla Tape Fan!!

Until recently I was using the silver duct tape from the dollar store and wondering why it didn't work well and I was using so much (go figure). I finally bit the bullet and purchased the gorilla tape and am I glad I did! One small piece will keep anything together and you are money ahead. Being a single, female homeowner there are times when duct tape has to do the job :-)

Product use and the way in which it excelled was for a particular project. It may not be good to use for other projects, e.g. one where clear, thinner tape is more useful. Gorilla tape follows along with Gorilla glue. It is strong and tough and can be used inside or out. used this to help make door inserts for a farmers porch. Worked like a charm.
