Would this tape adhere to drywall?

I am building a home audio booth and am thinking about buying three sheets of drywall and taping them together. I need a heavy-duty tape, because the tape will act like the joint, and may need to be flexible without coming off. The booth will only be used indoors. Do you think this tape would adhere to the drywall and withstand a little bit of bending, occasionally?
Asked by: Trish
Yes, BUT if the drywall is not painted the glue is so strong it might pull the paper off with the tape. Also the tape might pull the paint off the drywall as the glue is that strong.

would this be suitable to mount vinyl tarp to pergola?

I need to cover a large pergola prior to making a more permanent cover making it more like a covered patio. My intent is to cover it with heavy duty poly vinyl tarp(s). Most double sided tapes do not seem strong enough. I am thinking I could staple/tack the Gorilla tape to the framing and then lay the tarp over the sticky side.
Asked by: james
The adhesion of this tape is excellent but to serve the purpose you asked - I don't believe it will do the job. It will stick to the tarp but once wind and rain start stressing the tarp, the tape will either pull from the staples or release from the tarp. However, I believe the Gorilla tape would serve as a good patch for a tarp; just not so much for securing (anchoring) a tarp.

Will this tape hold up in below freezing temperatures?

Asked by: Merjay
Great Question Merjay. I have froze this tape in my freezer for a project I was doing. It does ok but I would suspect it would hold up over long periods. Hope this helped. Andy

Customer Reviews

2.88 in. x 30 yds. Tough and Wide Gorilla Tape is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Tape for Bog Jobs This tape is almost three inches wide and covers areas not handled well by standard fabric adhesive tape. This means less tape for greater coverage. The adhesive on this Gorilla tape gives a much better bond for longer than standard fabric tape as well. The fabric from which it is constructed is sturdier giving a more dependable repair or construction than standard tape. As can be discerned from my pix this tape is great for temporary repairs on machinery but I have also found that it is good for the kids school projects and sealing up those coincidental leaks and holes that occur around the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classroom sensation I received this product for free in exchange for a fair and honest product review. This tough and wide Gorilla tape is a teacher and classroom sensation. It solves a problem I have had decorating my classroom. Previously, posters would fall off my cinder block walls. To date, nothing has fallen off the walls when stuck up by this amazing Gorilla tape. Other teachers knock on my classroom door and ask to borrow the tape all the time. I am happy to share and spread the word about this tape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Strong I received the Gorilla Tape a week or two ago and have not really had a good use for it, so I did my own test to see how strong it is. What I did was try a rope to a gallon water jug, once I did that I filled the container up with water I then taped the rope to my work bench hanging about six inches off the floor. The results is that 8 pounds of water is still hanging for 3 days now without falling. Very impressed with its strength, I would recommend to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great adhesion! I used this tape at my cabin in remote Vermont. I was stripping the cabins roof of shingles for a re-roof which turned into an all day affair. I needed to cover the roof with blue tarps to give it protection from the pop up thunderstorms that are so prevalent. I chose to tape the overlap seams to keep the wind from tearing the tarps from the roof. I had just received this tape and immediately put it to use. It is very wide, and the adhesive is quite strong. Only one length of tape was required per seam. As I had expected, we had a T-storm with strong gusty wind. The tape held the tarps together as if they were sewn together at the factory!! I am SOLD!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up to its name! This tape delivers as advertised. How many times have you reached for the duct tape only to have a weak tape with very poor adhesion. This tape is flexible, comes off the roll with ease, and yet it sticks and holds like none I used before. It seals and holds cardboard better than packing tape. You can see from the photo, it holds 2.5 and 5lb weights securely. I didn't test it to its limit, but I did put 20lbs on it as you can see in this photo and it felt secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upping the Game Gorilla's Tough and Wide Tape is, as advertised, both tough and wide: at 2.88" in width, it trumps pretty much everything else on the market at this time. At 30 yards in length, it's certainly not the longest role on the market, but it's also not the shortest, so I have no qualms on that front. As an adhesive, the stuff STICKS. Make sure you have everything where you want it before you apply the tape, because, if you don't, the tape's probably not coming off. My only issue with this product is that it's significantly more expensive than the other duct tapes available at Home Depot. So, yes, it's a great product that works incredibly well, but it's also an expensive solution that might be overkill for many projects.
