Forget duct tape - when you need something that really sticks and won't let go, rip, or tear this is your product!

I put no for recommendation as I was looking for a wide tape to make a quasi-permanent repair (nothing's forever right? :-) )
This did not adhere well to the floor mat I was attempting to seal a crack in.

If you're old enough, you might remember when duct tape was really strong and stuck amazingly well. Most of what gets passed off these days as duct tape has less stick than blue masking tape. But Gorilla tape is way better than even olden days duct tape. I use it to tape fairly heavy dropcloths to brick. Even in cold weather, it sticks until I want to remove it. When I do pull this off, it removes cleanly. It doesn't even leave a residue on heavily-textured brick.
This is probably overkill if all you're doing is taping up a box for mailing. But if you need real strength and real stick, this is your product.

I need to seal a crack around a door to keep the wind from blowing into the house until I was ready to replace the door. This tape was easy to apply.

OK, I can't imagine a lot of uses for this tape. But for the weird use I have it’s perfect. I haul a lot of composting and landscaping materials. Grass clippings, leaves, wood chips, bark, rock, and sand. Stuff that ends up filling the space between the pickup bed and the opened tailgate of my Toyota Tacoma. If left there it prevents the tailgate from closing properly. If forced a tiny bit it may close, but it won’t then reopen easily and if forced the gate latches will break. After spending $240 to replace the latches I learned to spend several minutes after each load cleaning stuff out of the opening.
So the obvious solution was to bridge the gap with duct tape. 2” doesn’t bridge the gap, but two overlapping strips do. Works great, but lasts a month, 2 at most, and splits and starts to come loose. Has to be removed and the base thoroughly cleaned with a solvent and new duct tape installed. A half hour job, but better than cleaning the opening after every load. Replaced the duct tape with this “Tough and Wide Gorilla Tape” It’s just enough wider to work with a single strip. I’ve had it on for about 5 months, through near 100 degree heat and below freezing cold. No loosening, no signs of use, age, or cracking at all. Awesome stuff.
