Answer:
The yoke hinges for the tubular steel frame are plastic.
The two steps are connected by metal rod linkages.
Now I know this isn't important when your falling over, but this step stool is covered by a "limited lifetime warranty." I think that's the stool lifetime and not yours!

No, it is not waterproof ... not even weatherproof ... not even close.
While the exterior coating of the steel tubing might be powdercoat, the steel pins that serve as pivot points [which may or may not be gavlanized] provide moisture access to the inside of those tubes, which are not powder-coated.
If you leave this outdoors, it'll be a rust bucket in a hurry.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great For now it's great (Buen articulo y módico precio)!! August 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Little Step Stool This is the ideal step stool for my grandaughter's closet. I installed a closet organization system in there, and this stool helps her with stuff on the top shelves. I like the fact that it is lightwieght for her to handle, compact enough to fold and stow in the side of the closet, yet it is sturdy and stable, with deep steps and the handrail, so I know my granddaughter will be safe as well as able to use it with ease and confidence. At a very reasonable price, this stool is a good value. July 12, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Step stool The step stool was just the right height for what I need. The price was great. A very sturdy step stool for the price. I am very pleased with my purchase. Thank you Home Depot. July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Small step ladder - folds up tiny Not all step ladders are made the same. I have been on ladders that have twisted as I worked on things above my head. The 2-stair gorilla ladder is a nicely constructed solution. It folds flat, about 1.25" deep. And 2' tall. The stairs are all sheet metal. The only plastic is found on s hand hold on the top stair and the feet are a rubberized plastic and don't slide on slick concrete. One minor annoyance is that glue is used to hold the product description to the top stair. And sadly it's very difficult to get off the stair. Overall this is replacing a rickety step ladder and I couldn't be happier November 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy. The ladder is compact and sturdy - just what I wanted and the price was too good to pass up. I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend to anyone. July 18, 2016
