If I were to pick this up by the handle can I set it down and have it open up for me with one hand? OR, do I need to set it down and use my other hand to open it up?

Answer:
While mine is only one month old it is stiff to open and requires 2 hands. I would not expect it to loosen up enough to open with one hand either.

Answer:
It requires both hands because to the left on the top step is a button that you push to lock the ladder frame in place, and both hands are needed to unfold the ladder.

Answer:
This is a sturdily built step ladder so I'd say that if you are strong you might be able to hold it up with one hand and open with the other--not sure why you'd need to do it that way though. When I open it, I stabilize it by placing one hand on the handle, then with my other hand I push the little lever that's on the top step and unfold it. It's very easy to open.

Answer:
It really takes two hands to fully open this ladder. It locks into place. To fold it back up, you must release to lock button, hold the ladder at the top and then with other hand fold the step into the front structure. It you work it right you can stand in front of the ladder and with one hand partially fold the ladder.

I'm sorry I don't know. I checked the label but it doesn't show the weight. I will say I have no problem carrying it from room to room and I'm not an especially strong woman. I would think most people would have no problem carrying this ladder around.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wife likes it. It is solid. Fold up and locks. Does not flop open. Safe. She needed one around the house. Perfect. I use all the time. May 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by step stool It is easy to use and easy to store. Very sturdy. It is a great help for reaching upper cabinets and smoke detectors on the ceiling. A must for every household April 15, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Step ladder I needed a step ladder for upstairs and this one was inexpensive and sturdy. I love it! What a great addition to my craft room, I can actually get to everything on the shelves and it's very stable. I really appreciate the bar that supports me when I have to lean forward, a very safe feeling for someone who's afraid of heights :) April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very sturdy and durable step ladder! The 2-Step Lightweight Steel Ladder with 225 lb. Load Capacity Type II Duty Rating is a great step ladder for any and all indoor/at home uses as well as outdoor/larger uses. Completely sturdy and easy to store - no shaking.rocking, or wobbling while in use. The only downside - it is a little heavier to carry around than most step ladders (because its not made of plastic). October 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very stable, comfortable, and well built OVERALL: Very stable. Wide steps with good traction. Folds well, easy to slide into a gap (like between cabinets) with very little room required. STABILITY: Almost no movement of the ladder when you shift your weight. When locked into open position, ladder does not give at all until you open the latching mechanism. COMFORT: Good grip on steps, easy to walk on barefoot, but good with shoes. Top bar recessed back so you can stand on the top step comfortable without a metal bar digging into your shins. September 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy step stool This step stool is a two step-ladder with a 225 pound weight capacity. The literature on this says it is a "type II" step ladder which I've learned means it is a "commercial step-ladder" which is a step above a household step-ladder. This might explain why this seems to be an exceptionally sturdy step-ladder. I've found that this ladder is very smooth when opening which is nice compared to some other ladder's I've had in the past. There is also a locking latch which prevents the ladder from folding when you are using it. When you want to fold the ladder, you press a small button which is on the top step and the ladder folds away nicely. When it is folded, the ladder is very thin and fits nicely on the side of the refrigerator in our kitchen. When you stand on this ladder, it is not wobbly at all so you don't feel like it could collapse at any moment. Overall, this is an excellent step-ladder and I would definitely recommend it. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Serves its purpose Like the step stool because it is stable and has a safety bar along the top. Reasonably priced. March 15, 2016
