I have built a deck 7 ft. off the ground. Is 7 ft. the bottom of the entry point. The flange that secures the slide is all mounted above this point.

Answer: 
If I'm understanding your question correctly, it sounds like you have mounted the face plate flange so that the bottom of the flange is flush with the deck. If this is the case, the slide will be too high off of the ground. The bottom surface of the tube portion of the slide should be flush to the deck.
