In some of the customer reviews they say this playset comes with an optional ladder is this still true?

I did not see it listed under the product overview.
Asked by: Angie
Yes...ours had the wood parts to build the ladder...which was aggravating because we were missing a couple hardware pieces for the main we had extra, unnecessary wood and missing, necessary hardware.

Is this one with the add on fort meaning the back is closed not open slats ?

You have the frontier set I want but many sites offer this with the add on fort meaning the back of the tree house is enclosed the price is the same except overstock offers it with 12 % off . Do you have this with the wood roof and add on fort ? Also many sites offer a free add on item from gorilla do you ?
Asked by: Kathy
First off, I am not affiliated with Gorilla, but have constructed various sets from them for myself and others, however, you question may better be answered by contacting the company directly or visiting a HD location that has these sets in stock.

This took us about 24 man hours to construct (2 2-person teams working 12 hours). Instructions were mostly easy to follow, though there were a few head scratchers...and it was challenging to sort the parts at times...however, my only real complaint was that we were shy 3 bolts even though we had spare wood parts. I have to call for replacements this week. The kids love it though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality, but assembly directions need work The play set came in multiple boxes and before you start assembly, you will need to open every box and sort all of the boards. I laid mine out in my driveway, but a lawn or other large area will suffice. There is no way you can begin without taking this step. And here is one of the reasons I gave 4 stars: Although the boxes are numbered, the assembly pages DO NOT refer to any board box nor hardware (screws, nuts, bolts) box number. What this ultimately means is I spent 10-15 minutes (for each step) finding boards and related hardware, constantly comparing to the instructions for proper type and size, and maybe 5 minutes on the assembly. Second reason: the hardware is sorted into boxes (numbered) and small ziplock bags, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason for the organization. I was constantly robbing one box/bag to assemble a step of the structure. For example: early in the steps you have to assemble the four main structure posts and the directions call for 30 T-Nuts and I had to open 4 different bags and 3 different boxes to get that many T-Nuts. Third reason: The instructions state "there may be slight differences in board sizing due to the milling process". This, in my case was an under statement. I found multiple instances where I have to cut and tweak the assembly to make things fit properly or "close enough". On a few occasions I had to actually saw boards to make things fit properly (more than 1" difference). An example is the gang plank. The directions state to make the floor boards flush with the bottom of of the ramp. If you do this expect to cut the floor boards because when you attach them to the structure, the brackets won't fit properly against the support, because there is an overhang of wood you need to trim off. Fourth: Getting started took an awful long time. Not only to sort all the materials and get them organized, but figuring out what end is what. The instructions describe left and front vs left and right, or front and back. This gets confusing because if you don't assemble items in the proper order or put T-Nuts in the proper holes, you later figure out you have to move things around or you put something in the wrong place. Fifth: Expect to have a hammer drill, various drill bits, regular and blade, as well as deep socket set. There is no way I would suggest doing any of these tasks by hand (manual socket set will add days to the assembly time). I would also suggest a powered drill vs battery. Driving lag bolts chews thru battery drills in minutes. Sixth: Although many holes are pre-drilled, many are not and the directions even state "there is no need to pre-drill holes, the screws and bolts are self tapping". Yes this is technically true, however, if you've ever worked with wood before, you will know you want to drill pilot holes to prevent cracking and many of the locations are close to the edges of the boards. I think all of these issues can be solved with a little rewording in the manual and a few tweaks: - Organize the hardware with the boards into a single box for any given step in the manual: time savings 1 hour at start-up and 5 hours over length of project hunting for various parts - I understand there are differences in the milling process, but someone needs to take a second look at the design, output from the mill, and actually assemble the structure. Way too many tweaks. Despite all of these concerns, I still believe the end product is a solid, well made structure I have no problem letting my grandkids play on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surpassed our expectations; unbelievable attention to detail! Gorilla really has a superior product! This product is WELL worth the money. I cannot believe the amount of thought and detail that was put into creating this play set. The main support posts are rubber-wrapped! And the bearings used in the tire swing make it so nice and smooth. With just one push, I can spin the swing and it will rotate in a circle smoothly, or it can swing in a pendulum! Even details down to the height of the tire swing beam were well thought out. The set comes with an optional ladder, too, in case there is one of those ramps/climbing walls that you don't want to use. We have absolutely no complaints! Instructions were some of the easiest to follow-- ever!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I was surprised how large the playset was once assembled. It definitely allows for many years for my 5 and 3 year old to grow into and has been a great addition to our backyard. We did end up hiring someone to assemble the product (gorilla offers recommendations on their website) once we saw the amount of boxes, read the instructions, and honestly assessed how long it would take. The assembly crew consisted of 3 men who had assembled gorilla products before and it still took them 5.5 hours. Overall, the set is very sturdy and my kids love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Playset! The assembly does take some time and patience. With 4 dads working at any given time, it took 2 full days + 1 additional for the swing beams. For this quality of playground, it was definitely worth the extra time. The set is VERY sturdy, safe, and absolutely kid-friendly. I can safely walk up and down the ladders and rock wall to assist my children. Make sure you have level ground to work on. Do not overtighten the lag screws. My only complaint is the dormer/roof/chimney construction. The dormers and chimney did not have instructions and the dormers have warped after only 2 months and need to be repaired. It will be a simple fix with nails and wood glue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grandkids love it Received the playset in excellent condition. All the pieces were there (along with a few extra boards and hardware!). Must say the instructions to put this thing together was spot on. If you have a screw motor, you can do this. The instructions are that detailed! Took us around 20 hours to complete it, but part of that time was working to get the fort structure level in the yard. After that, no problems. Only complaints are the telescope is made of cheap plastic and probably not last very long with my grandkids, and it would be nice if each different size of hardware (screws, washers, hexbolts, etc) was in separate bags and labeled. Some are in separate bags (not labeled), but then you have some bags that have hex-bolts, 2 in, 2 1/2 in, etc in bag together. At least the instructions give you life size pictures you can compare and measure to. But that is my ONLY complaint! The grandkids LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality playset Heavy duty playset. Instructions are clear. Hardware need to be labeled clearer (screw size bolt length). Have some help in construction I put most of this together by myself would have been easier to have extra hands. Put together over 4th of July weekend. Have power tools wouldn't want to attempt with ratchet and screw driver. Grandaughter loves it.
