Can Pump Armor Fluid be mixed with water?

I just watched a YouTube video where Pump Armor was added to water to flush out a spray system. I am considering mixing Pump Armor with water and letting it sit in the bottom of my stainless steel tank and hoses to protect them during freezing winter storage. Is this an acceptable use?
Asked by: JD
This fluid is an anti-freeze: it is premixed to protect to -30 degrees F. The more water you add, the less effective it is. Technically, your system already has small amounts of remaining water or paint thinner given that is what you have used to clean the unit. Water freezes at 32 degrees F. Oddly enough, water continues to freeze/expand as it gets colder. The temperature may be lower if supercooling occurs or if there are impurities present in the water which could cause freezing point depression to occur. (Scientists have found liquid water as cold as -40 degrees F in clouds and even cooled water down to -42 degrees F in the lab. Read more: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/at-what-temperature-does-water-freeze-120813/#Pcvi2kugCHw3SaGp.99) The purpose of the anti-freeze in your pump is to prevent parts/casing from breaking due to expansion as well as keeping the moving parts "unfrozen."

Is this a single use bottle or can you get multiple uses from it

Asked by: Bryan
It depends on how long your paint hose is: some storage instructions recommend putting fluid in every part, i.e. spray gun, hoses, and pump as if you were spraying. I do not. I put a Quick-Connect Air Hose Socket, 1/4" Coupler x 3/8" NPT Female Thread to keep the fluid in the pump and the suction and prime tubes (plastic bag them to contain dripping fluid). With just these under pressure, you should be able to use the contents 10 to 12 times. Note that the bottle's opening is large enough for you to insert both the suction and prime tubes. Unless you take off the suction tube's filter screen, you will not be able to use the fluid below the Graco label. Your manual should tell you at the end of the procedure (there are several steps) to "Turn Prime/Spray valve to SPRAY to keep storage fluid in sprayer during storage."

The bottle's lid design -- whether intentional or not -- is large enough to allow you to insert the prime and suction tubes into the bottle. This is very efficient and effective in terms of not wasting product.
