I know the smaller handhelds like the True Coat Plus II or the True Coat Pro might be better but they seem quite heavy and that is without the paint being in the cannister. I'm buying this for my best gal and my sense is those handhelds are heavy.

Definitely not. The set up and clean up involved would really be a drawback.

Answer:
A HVLP (one withe a turbine or compressed air supplied) would probably be a better choice, But this could be used, it's just the cleanup would persuade me you choose something else.

Answer:
Hello, and thank you for your question about the Project Painter Plus. Yes this unit will work for small projects like you have outlined. Please be aware that this machine does use more paint to fill the hose than the handhelds. I hope this helps you with your decision. If not, please call GRACO technical assistance at 1-800-543-0339

I just pointed the gun where I wanted, not worrying about how I was holding it, and that was that. Super fast. When I did the inside roof of my storage shed, same thing - point the gun up at the ceiling and 2 minutes later I was done. I don't think I would have felt comfortable with a canister full of paint over my head! I've used this for a lot of small projects and it worked great, like a small wood entry bench, a 'cube' type organizer, etc. Read Less

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 55 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FAST! I bought this to paint my basement ceiling, which is exposed joists and sub floor. There was really no other way to do it. I'd thought about buying a smaller, cheaper model, but I'm glad I spent the additional money. My only regret was that I hadn't bought it earlier to paint the drywall and ceilings throughout the house. I've since used it to paint ceilings in another house as well as doors. It does a MUCH better job than a roller. Smooth results, even spray and FAST. On the down side, it takes some time to get it all thoroughly clean, but the smooth and consistent results warrant the clean up. Good product, well designed and well made. March 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellence! This product exceeded all expectations! I am a homeowner, and decided I would spray paint the exterior of my home instead of rolling paint on. This was the first time I'd ever used a spray painter. I was a little intimidated. However, this little gem performed perfectly! Simply read and follow the instructions. The unit runs quietly. A big plus! This Graco, along with Behr Marquee one-coat paint, made the job easy, and saved me over $1000.00 by doing it myself. April 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product I bought this sprayer to paint a privacy fence and am so glad I did. Advice given to me was to roll and brush and that would take forever. The fence is old but the wood is in good condition but the prep pressure wash did gouge the wood in some places. However, the sprayer filled the paint in well. There are over 250 boards, 2 inside gates, and one outside gate and it took me approximately 3 hours. Cleanup took about about 30-45 minutes due to first time usage. With a little experience, probably take 15 or so minutes. I've used sprayers before but not quite like this one. For the price, an excellent investment. Just follow the instructions. I plan on painting the exterior of my house and several interior rooms with this sprayer in the future. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The perfect tool! I bought this last summer. We had added a 15' x 26' living room to our home. This machine allowed me to do the primer coats before and after texturing and the color coats quickly. I also pained the exterior hardy plank siding. If you watch the videos and follow the advise given you will end up with a great paint job. One of my painter friends gave me a great piece of advise, have a dry roller and roll over the wet paint to help even out the overly wet and not wet enough areas. Clean it after every use and use the armor liquid for storage, it is worth buying. March 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Compact design I only gave it 4 stars because of the initial set up and purging the system. It takes a bit of time to do it right. Cleaning wasn't too bad. The power cord holder on the base needs some work. Not easy to wind. Other than that, it paints nice. Good coverage, but takes some practice to avoid too much paint in one area. Low overspray compared to the Wagner 990. I like the optional extension wand and power roller. If you get good at spraying, you really don't need the roller, but it's nice to have for those rooms where there's furniture. March 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent sprayer for my needs I purchased this to spray/seal a large wood fence and deck, and to paint a house. So far I sealed the fence and deck. The house is next. The spray/ seal job on the fence and deck took me one day, which I estimated would have taken me 3 days with a roller and brush. As I had never used a sprayer before, it took me about 30 minutes to get the hang of using it efficiently. And then the work went very smoothly, with little to no overspray. The cleaning of the sprayer took longer than I thought it would, but that was probably because I was using an oil based water proof sealer, and I had to go through 2 gallons of paint thinner to make sure it was clean enough to use for my next job of painting latex on the house. I poured my sealer in a 5 gallon bucket at about 3 gallons at a time and it worked flawlessly. The 25 ft hose gave me plenty of room to work quickly, and to allow me a short respit when I had to move the sprayer and 5 gal container to continue along the fence. The main problem I faced was during my first 20-30 minutes of using a sprayer for the first time, I was moving too slowly and had too much over-spray causing runs that had to be brushed out. Once I figured out a proper pace I had no additional problems. What a labor saver this machine was. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great sprayer I bought this sprayer after my previous sprayer, Wagner Flexio 990, stopped working properly after using it a second time. I have a Wagner power painter plus that is a far superior product than that 990 and works well each time. What I can tell you is that this sprayer is phenomenal! For the price I paid, less than $250, this sprayer is leaps and bounds better than any of the Wagner products, especially the Flexio 990. I was able to spray an entire room, 4 walls, and the ceiling (12X15) in approximately 5 minutes with a glass like finish. Best practices: -spray from a minimum of eight inches away -use smooth strokes -water based paints are best applied with the low setting -wait at least an hour or more before applying the second coat -seal up the room properly and cover up edges using meticulous detail I learned that if you got five hours to paint use four of them for prep. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great DIY paintrt Painted out building in about an hour. Rolling would have taken double the time. March 4, 2016
