Customer Questions & Answers

My granite countertop has a tiny chip on the edge. Can it be fixed?

Asked by: Alex
No - this product won't fix your chip. Yes, chips can be fixed. Professionals use tiny chips and dust from similar granite/marble, and, if needed, other colorants. These are mixed with epoxy. The surface to repair needs to be cleaned of sealants (!) before the epoxy/stone-dust mix can be applied. Once applied, an approximate shape or edge is made with a scraper or other tools. Once dried and set, a very fine grit sandpaper is used to smooth any surface imperfections. My brand new granite was installed with a couple chips. Fixed it before he left. Darned if I know where they are/were. That said, I now have a few more self inflicted chips that need repair. I'll go to his shop, get some dust and chops, and a get a wee kit of two part epoxy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was so happy to receive the sealer My granite & marble has been cleaned with alcohol and Granite Gold and it has never been sealed. It makes me feel better when water drips onto the granite from the kitchen faucet that the sealer helps protect it. I also sealed the marble window sills

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Food safe stone sealer I was really worried about how this would interact with my granite countertops - only because they are so expensive and damaging them is not an option as the stone I picked is very unique. So I approached this product with caution and tried the application in an inconspicuous space. To my delight it works! My biggest concern has been water would absorb into my counters and would make a visible discoloration until it evaporated back out of the stone. With this liquid sealer, that has stopped! For food preparation, I use my bare counters to do a lot of food prep and this product is non-toxic, non-acidic, pH balanced, biodegradable, no phosphates or ammonia. Color me satisfied and happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Sealer Our solid slab granite countertop is six months old and had lost a bit of its luster. The installers recommended we reseal it every 8-12 months, so we figured now was a great time to get a jump on it. Before I used this product, I wasn't aware just exactly how much luster the counter had lost. It still looked shiny to me, and I could see my under-cabinet LED lights in the reflection if I looked closely. After thoroughly cleaning the counter in preparation of sealing, I snapped a photo out of curiosity. The sealer was very easy to "install." We did a 2-person method: one person sprays and wipes, the other person buffs. It took less than 5 minutes to do the entire counter (we have about 16 linear feet). After sealing, I took another photo out of curiosity. As it turns out, my counter had lost quite a bit of luster as the second photo showed a much clearer reflection of the under-cabinet lights. Plus, I could see much more detail in the reflection such as the tile backsplash and the cabinets themselves! Now, this is a sealer, not a polish, but it does return smooth granite slabs to luster. I am eager to try out the granite polish in a couple of days and see how much shinier the counter will become--you can polish 24 hours after the application of the sealer.
