Customer Questions & Answers

This would be 1060 watts per hour with full sun ??

Asked by: Joe
The 1060 watt rating here is the DC nameplate rating. A better metric is the PTC rating of the panel, which is 239.1 watts DC (956 watts total, this would be the theoretical maximum output in full sun with ideal conditions). However, this number varies widely depending on panel placement, your latitude, ambient temperature, etc. In general, a system of this size will produce an average of 3,180 watt-hours of usable AC power per day (more in summer, less in winter).

I live in Alaska. My home has a good view to the south and west. Could I place 4 panels on a mounting bracket about 3-5 feet above the ground?

I do not want to mount panels on my roof. I could mount the solar panels on the side of the house, or on a mounting bracket 3-5 feet above the ground. Would this work? Thanks.

Is this a DIY kit...or do you have to hire a professional electrician to install

Very interested in buying this
Asked by: Specialk
This is a grid-tied system, and, as such, requires a licensed electrician for the hookup. This kit has been discontinued, but we can always do custom quotes through your local HD Pro Desk - contact Grape Solar directly for this.

Customer Reviews

1,060-Watt Expandable Poly-Crystalline PV Grid-Tied Solar Power Kit is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad solar panels I did some checking and when I bought these panels they were rated as the top 3. In stalled my self and made my on mounting. Grape solar company was not bad they did help here and there. But the wanted a professional to install the system. It's just 4 wires not a rocket scientist need. I had to get a net meter form my electric provider at 125$. After all was installed I did a small test and it looked like the meter was running backwards with 2 deep freezers and 3 ceiling fans once I turned on my tv the meter stopped going backwards.
