Customer Questions & Answers

During a power outage with this type of grid tied solar kit how much back up power do you get if there are no batteries ? 24 hrs 48 hrs ?? a week ??

Asked by: matt
None if you have no batteries because you have no storage. In fact you get no power during the day either because the system requires grid power to operate and automatically shuts down when grid power is lost.

This KIT as previously mentioned doesn't come with a battery , but I recommend looking into enphase's own battery kit which is currently being tested in Austrailia. Unfortunately microinverters are not compatible with the Tesla Power Wall.

Is there a way for this system to auto disconnect from grid during power outage and still provide power to home?
Asked by: Rdub
Like all solar systems the answer is yes you would need to have a automatic transfer switch installed prior to your main panel. However there is a way to do it after the main breaker but is mostly unfeasible due to needing to manually shut off the main breaker to prevent a back feed.
