Had a smaller one and it worked great but we had to make several batches and it did not have the heat lamp. This one has the heat lamp which really does keep the popcorn warm and we can make a large batch using the 8 oz popcorn or use the smaller ones if we want less.
This is a larger machine and I would recommend that you have some place you can keep it because it is large and it's not easy to move around. They do have one with a cart which may be good for people who do not have the counter space.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1234 Love my popcorn machine
The reason for good instead of excellent for quality is that some parts rust -
After many trial and errors in using my machine, and after burning a bunch of popcorn, I learned that the 2 T oil they suggest for 1 cup of popcorn is not nearly enough oil. I use 1/2 cup oil to 1 cup kernels. Since I have been doing that, the popcorn comes out perfectly every time. Also, you should season the kernels BEFORE you put the kernels in the kettle. I fill a 1 cup measuring cup with kernels, sprinkle with salt (or the seasoning of your choice), then add the kernels to the kettle.
Another method I do is after the popcorn is popped, I spread the popcorn all over the the bottom of the base of t he popcorn reservoir and spray with a butter flavored cooking spray and then add more seasoning and then mix together. The popcorn comes out delicious and perfect every time.

I finally got a popcorn machine. I have been cooking Movie style popcorn for years using a Presto Hot Oil popper. It worked fine but getting popcorn out of an ice chest kind of wasn't as cool at a real full size popcorn popper. The machine arrived and cooked a flawless batch first time.
Used it for a Superbowl party and it was a hit! I had to take the 8oz batch and cut it in half for popping, but other than that it was great.
It was the perfect snack for the kids. Every little one had a bag of popcorn all game. And it added a real "Bar" vibe later in the evening. A perfect addition!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by momofdcn Great gift for new man-cave!
Looks and smells and tastes like a good time. Fits perfectly with a new movie theme man-cave. Pops 8 oz at a time, movie sized servings for 4-5 people. Easy cleanup. A little hard to reach the popping pan with the squeeze in packs of oil and popcorn, but scoops are provided to do it yourself. My husband was delighted, said that it is great to get toys sometimes.

Super cheap, yet not too 'you get what you pay for' esque. The drawer doesn't fit tightly in the slot, but oh well. It was super cheap, which isn't super bad!

I bought this for a birthday gift for my son, I already have one very similar and when my son saw it he said he'd like one too so I searched for the best value, bought it and he loves it! Great Northern makes an excellent popcorn popper and Home Depot has the best prices

Makes tons of popcorn really fast, and was advertised as being very quiet. Standing next to machine I have to look to see the stirrer turning because I cannot hear it. It is super quiet and is very fast to make all the popcorn we can eat in no time at all. Super machine!

Well made, and heats up super quick. Makes great popcorn. Really happy with this machine. Replaced a $460 popcorn machine, and it performs as well, except it heat up a lot quicker on the first batch, which is a real plus. In a little over a minute from turning on the heater and adding oil, it's ready to have the seeds added. Amazing! We use this one at work. I'm considering getting one for our church for movie nights. Cant' beat the price! Awesome machine.
