HAD ITEM PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED BUT DID NOT HEAR OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THAT. DUSK TO DAWN FEATURE WORKS BEAUTIFULLY DESPITE AMBIENT LIGHT FROM STREET LIGHTS AND CHURCH ACROSS THE STREET. LOOKS REALLY NICE, VERY BRIGHT. IT DOES ATTRACT BUGS, SO MAY LOOK INTO BUG BULBS, THOUGH LOCATION ON CEILING KEEPS CRITTERS SOMEWHAT AWAY FROM GUESTS. MUCH NICER THAN THE EXTENSION CORD SPOTLIGHTS THAT WERE ALL OVER THE LAWN AND BROKE DOWN VERY OFTEN, NEAT AND ATTRACTIVE NOW ON MY LITTLE OLD VICTORIAN HOME WITH A MATCHING BRONZE CEILING FAN INSTALLED ON PORCH AT THE SAME TIME. WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY TO HAVE SECURITY, FRONT OF HOME IS NOW ALWAYS LIT AT NIGHT EVEN IF I AM AWAY OR WORK LATE. GREAT INVESTMENT!

The light is very attractive. My husband had to find screws different than what came with the light to be able to mount it. I think he had to use longer screws. Also, it comes with very bright 60W equivalent florescent light bulbs that have a GU24 base, which is what the fixture uses. So, when it's time to replace the bulbs, we'll have to look for that specific base. Would have preferred a traditional screw bulb socket.

I ordered this light for my front porch because the original light was unattractive and the timer that it was wired to didn't work. The new light is very attractive and was finally made to work. On the first order of this light, the globe did not fit flush into the outer ornamental wire cover so the light was returned and a second one was ordered. The second light was delivered with the same problem - the globe was too big. The second light was returned and a 3rd light was ordered. This time the globe fit into the ornamental cover, but the dissatisfaction was far from over. While standing on a 7' ladder, you will be required to hold the base and put wire nuts on the wires at the same time. Good luck. Ceiling fans have hangars to hold the fan while wiring is being completed. Not this light. Not a problem if you can get another ladder and another person to help. After finally getting it wired, the light only worked with the switch. In otherwords, if the switch is on, the light is on, if the switch is off, the light is off. So what's the point of spending extra money for a dusk to dawn light?! My husband took the light down and reviewed the wiring. It was wired from the factory such that the dusk to dawn sensor was bypassed and the lights would only operate from the switch. The directions only said to wire the black wires together, wire the white wires together and wire the grounds together. There was no wiring diagram. After finally wiring the light correctly, it did work as advertised. But of course it's not over yet. The last part to install was the decorative finial that is supposed to screw onto the threaded rod that is attached to the base and passes through the globe and wire frame. Lo and behold, the finial is NOT threaded!!!! I am not taking this light down and returning it for a 3rd time. Unfortunately I'm so sick and tired of fighting with it that, like correcting the faulty wiring, I will find some other way to attach the finial. If you buy this light, unpack it and check to make sure EVERYTHING fits together and if you aren't familiar with electrical wiring then don't bother with it.
