Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful So I know the previous reviews keep talking about taking it easy with this thing, but I thought "Who has time for that??!? So many flowers to plant!" and so on. My backyard is a barren, dry, clay, wasteland- but no longer! This sucker tilled through almost 1000ft2 in two weekends :) and I'm a short female with little-to-no upper body strength. Granted, I did use the hose to keep the dust down, but easy peasy. Set-up is pretty intuitive, though there's a weird cord-clip-thing that I couldn't figure out- on the box it's in a different place than the owner's manual. No worries though- just keep the cord from getting tilled. May 14, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not for clay soil I turned over my clay-soil garden and expected the cultivator to turn it into a seed-ready bed. I was disappointed to find that the cultivator would not penetrate the hard soil clods, I had to break everything up with a hand cultivator/hoe before I could use this. It just skipped over the clods. If I held it firmly down, it would dig deep in one spot and not move. Once the soil was broken down deeply into small pieces it worked beautifully. Would be good for average or sandy soil. It is good for preparing for mulching around plants. June 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressed! Talk about being impressed! My wife's garden is 10' X 30' it's like hard caked soil with lots of rocks. The first pass was done at 2" and it went thru the soil & rocks like a hot knife into butter. The second pass was done at 8" deep with the same result. We could have done it in one pass! Some rocks were the size of potatoes with no nicks to the thines. Again, we are impressed at the ruggedness too. It did a perfect job on the garden which we planted the same day. June 28, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by a little early to tell And I'm a little dubious about a review claiming this tiller cut through hard dirt and roots. I would not expect it to, unless the roots are of old veggie plants. And my garden soil needed a little rain or watering before it was soft enough for easy tilling. BUT ... overall my first impression is very positive. I have recommended it to a couple friends. Don't forget to use 12 or 14 ga. extension, depending on length. March 27, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by FAIR Not enough power to break up the soil. The soil that was broken up then caused the wheels to get stuck and the blades would then remain in place and make a huge hole. I found that if I pulled it backwards, it would work better. Plus it needed a 12 gage extension cord that cost an extra $75. Not worth it. May 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Small Work Horse Was surprised about the strength and durability of an 'electric' tiller. It eats thru very hard dirt that even had some sizeable rocks in it spitting them out like pebbles. Is a little heavy for the fiance but handleable. So far, so good, love it! June 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This little guy works like a charm! I recently purchased a new home, and the yard had been neglected for years. The gardens were filled with weeds, and digging would have been treacherous. The tiller went through them with ease. I am so happy I purchased this product. June 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product for the money Although I am happy with my choice in this cultivator, the instructions weren't clear enough for this novice. I emailed the company asking for a how-to video - there was not one but they did offer telephone assistance. April 2, 2013
