Can these kits be customized to make triangular beds for a medicine wheel garden?

If so, how easy/difficult is it, and how would one go about doing this?

Answer:
Although the kits are flexible to make several configurations of SQUARES, I'm not sure how you would make the triangles unless you have a router (or some sort of table saw) that you could add channels cut into the corners of the main support posts. It would be tricky and the wood in the corners of the support posts are very shallow.

Hi ItsMe,
I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for visiting our site.
This Raised Bed Garden Kit can be customized, but only by stacking vertically, or turning at right (90°) angles.
The four sided posts limit the angles that can be achieved. To add or change the angles, the posts would have to be replaced with posts that have additional sides to provide those angles.

The posts that are provided cannot be altered to achieve the smaller angles that you want.

Answer:
No, the planks are so skinny that it doesn't give you any room for staggering.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Quite disappointing Package has arrived badly damaged. I don't know if anything is missing since there was no installation manual or parts list. Parts are VERY rough/rustic with hanging strands of wood. I mean you will need to wear some heavier gloves to handle the wood. Posts are made of lumber off-cuts and are off irregular shape. Not sure if 2 packets of screws what I found/was left will be enough to put the garden bed together. Planks are really skinny on the width and height side. Cedar fence boards are much better quality than this product. Don't expect to receive anything that nice as presented in the pictures on the HH web site. I was actually shocked. I would not recommend this product to anyone regardless of budget. May 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Raised Garden Bed Assembly took less than 30 minutes, parts went together smoothly. May 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase! Very easy for this 69 yr old lady with arthritis to assemble, looks lovely in my yard and ready to fill with veggie plants. If you follow the assembly instructions on the HD site there are only two tall end pieces needed for completion. It goes together beautifully and I will be ordering more to add on. March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Three Tier Raised Bed great "starter" box Easy assembly; do not to FORCE joints or dovetails will snap. I didn't have that problem, but noticed some people complained about that. MOST of the connections slipped right in very easily with SLIGHT tap of rubber mallet. I will be buying more kits to make the bed higher. January 19, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Acceptable product quality for the price. Company needs to re-think packaging and shipping practices. Two tall corner pieces were missing on delivery; box was torn open during shipping. June 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than I expected! Received my garden bed as promised via tracking UPS. Upon opening the box and seeing the wood pieces to assemble, I was a bit skeptical. It was only after I assembled the first box that I stepped back and realized just how beautiful the wood was. The assembly was quite simple and I can understand why some people would have broken the dovetail ends. It is a gentle assembly process, cannot be too forceful when putting together. I took my time and had it completely assembled in under an hour. I would highly recommend this for any avid gardener and hope to add on to my stair step bed in the years to come. May 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy assembly This was a great solution for rcedar aised boxes at a reasonable price. Easy to put together with many options for configuratios . We bought extra cedar to make a trim on too so the boxes would be comfortable to sit on the edge as you garden. Only complaint is that one of the kits we bought that we picked up at the store had different sized posts thatn all the rest that were delivered. It would not fit together with the rest of the boxes. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to Install & Look Great! I purchased this set plus the 4x4 (10.5") kit online, and then also purchased a 4x4 (7"0 and 4x8 (10.5" & 7") kit in-store. The photo shown with my review is a combination of multiple kits. The tallest box is 17.5"; the middle boxes are 14", and the lowest boxes are 10.5". Pros: Amazingly easy to install. We did our garden in one weekend while juggling lots of other activities with our kids. The biggest part of the job is leveling the boxes, and filling them with dirt. The actual construction of each box takes just minutes. Cons: The kits that I ordered online were delivered quickly and all pieces were in perfect condition. The kits that I purchased from the store were not as good. The wood was damp and somewhat warped. Three of the boards were completely unusable - one was even split down the middle into two large pieces! Another pro: When I contacted Greene's customer service number regarding the damaged boards, they were very polite and offered to send replacement boards via FedEx. I was super impressed by how they handled it, so I would certainly still recommend their products and would use them again in the future. May 6, 2013
