Customer Questions & Answers

If mower is shipped to store, does it come assembled

Asked by: HUGirlie
No, it is not assembled. But the handle is the main thing, and it is very easily done. The bag is pretty simple too. Time to assemble was maybe 10 minutes or so at most.

Ad stated that is mulching capable but specs state the opposite. Can anyone comment on whether it mulches or not.?

This is from ad: "2-in-1 feature provides mulching and rear bag capabilities"
Asked by: jay
As Greenworks stated, with the bag on, the clippings can be collected; with the bag off the grass clippings stay on the lawn. I think that constitutes mulching. I think the specs are either incorrect or misleading on that point. I use the bagged clippings in my composter, so that constitutes mulching, as well. BTW: the collection bag is very easy to take off and put on, so it won't be inconvenient or annoying to use it when needed and remove when you don't need it.

does it arrive with sharp blades or do they need sharpening prior to 1st use?

Asked by: kimmik
Hello kimmik, The reel mower does not require sharpening before use when it's new out of the box. Seasonal maintenance and sharpening will be needed.

16 in. Manual Push Reel Mower with Bag is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 94.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price It's so great for the price. I love how you can change the cut length easily without any tools. There were multiple reviews about the bag falling off which made me hesitant. But I've noticed the bag only comes off when it starts getting too full.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mower works just fine, and so does the bag! Mower works just fine, and so does the bag! Cuts my lawn nice and short and clean, weeds and all! I have previously used a Scotts brand mower in the past, and this one seems to be much more user-friendly. For height adjustment all you need is one single hex wrench. I read a lot of reviews on this mower claiming that the bag falls off or whatever, and my opinion is that the people that wrote those reviews are "mechanically challenged". All you need to do is read the instructions to put it on properly, it does not fall off if you have the height strap adjusted correctly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice for a small lawn It was easy to assemble. I have a very small lawn area so the mower is quick and convenient to use. It doesn't cut as well as the other styles of mowers for some reason, but I am satisfied with the job it does

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bang for your Buck! The biggest reason I'm reviewing this is to address the complaints about the grass catcher bag falling off constantly. I had the same problem UNTIL I realized I hadn't installed it properly (the instruction manual is too vague). Please see my pictures - Don't try to hook the bag onto anything. The hooks actually slide past the rubber bumper and sit between a brace and the axle. When installed this way, the bag doesn't fall out! Anyway, this mower is well built and relatively lightweight. It cuts well, but when the grass is tall it has a tendency to lay the grass down rather than cut it, so cut it often (unlike a powered mower that sucks the grass up before cutting). Don't go too fast or the clipped grass will ride the blade over the top and end up on the ground instead of in the bag. Be careful not to drag the bag across cement (like a sidewalk) or you'll tear the corners of the bag. A few things could have been designed better, but overall I think this mower is great for smaller lawns, has a bag and is small enough to store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I really like this product As soon as i saw my budget showing signs of weakness and gas prices become erratic, I decided to purchase a reel mower to save money on gas. Though it does not do well against crab grass and other weeds, it gets the job done- swiftly. Just get up and go, no more refueling or other tasks that may be time consuming. It is also silenter than a regular mower and sounds like a choir of razors that hunger for the flesh of plants.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from you get what you pay for... I have owned this lawn mower for three weeks and mowed my lawn with it three times. It was pretty easy to assemble and mows the lawn fine. We picked this one because it was the most inexpensive mower that came with a bag. Also, we'd heard we should keep the grass in our shady yard at least 2" high, and this was the only mower in this price range that could do that. The downsides are that the bag does not want to stay on the mower at all and constantly falls off. There is also already a rip in the corner of our bag. We have also already lost a couple of bolts, which is annoying. Luckily we were able to save the screws before they fell out too. But it's kind of a pain to have to go find new bolts after just three weeks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to assemble and use Easy to assemble and use. No gas, no oil, no plug, no batteries. Only maintenance is keeping it clean, oiled, and blades sharp. Love it. Misses spots but easy to go over a second time. The downside is grass catcher. Doesn't stay on well nor catch clippings well. So I use it without the bag. I get exercise and my lawn mowed at the same time.
