Product Overview

Grip-Rite drywall screws are used when installing gypsum board to wood studs. They have a sharp point to pierce through drywall, and a coarse thread design to help grab into wood studs. Once the screw has been driven, the bugle head allows for quick and easy countersinking.

  • Made of steel construction
  • Phosphate coated to make driving easier, and to provide a good base for finishes such as paint
  • Bugle Philips head driven
  • Made to conform to ASTM C1002

Can 1" Drywall screws be used with 1/2" sheet rock?

Asked by: John
Yes but I only used them on half inch thick studs that were on either side of a pocket door. I would go with 1.25 or 1.5" screws on regular studs. If you have extra of these they should work fine though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As important to me as duct tape I rehab houses. I use tons of drywall screws for everything, including drywall. I prefer the coarse threaded screws over the fine threaded screws. I keep all the available sizes on hand, from 1" up to 4" in both phosphate-plated for indoor use and polymer plated for outdoor use. These are a must-have item for any handyman or handywoman.
